Seventeen-year veteran Gail Kim announced Thursday that she will retire from the squared circle at the end of 2017.
Kim made the announcement on GFW Impact, and vowed to go out on top.
Kim is a former WWE Women’s Champion and a six-time TNA Knockouts Champion. After a two-year stint in WWE at the beginning of her career, she moved on to TNA Wrestling where she arguably helped to revolutionize women’s wrestling long before the Four Horsewomen ever laced up their boots in NXT.
In 2007, Kim bested nine other women in a gauntlet match at Bound For Glory to become the inaugural Knockouts Champion:
Kim returned to WWE in 2008, but she was grossly underutilized. In fact, the most famous moment from her second run with the company was when she eliminated herself from a battle royal live on Raw:
She returned to TNA in 2011, and she’s been on the top of her game ever since. Women’s wrestling will sorely miss her once she retires!
