Chester Bennington

Chester Charles Bennington, who was the lead singer for the bands Linkin Park and Dead by Summer, committed suicide early Thursday morning in his home in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County.

Bennington’s career with Linkin Park began in 1999 and continued until his death today. While a member of the band, he helped perform on 9 albums and was part of 2 Grammy wins.

Bennington had six children from 2 different marriages. He was known to have problems with alcohol and drugs for years, and according to TMZ had considered suicide in the past because he was abused as a child by an older male.

Prior to joining Linkin Park, Bennington nearly quit the music industry altogether, until Jeff Blue, the VP of Zomba Music offered him a chance to audition with what would become Linkin Park.

Between 2013 and 2015, Bennington served as lead vocalist for Stone Temple Pilots following the death of then-lead singer Scott Weiland.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bennington’s entire family during this trying time.
