Sandra’s Favourite Wrestling Matches of All Time!

It is time for another list! Everyone has a match that pulled them into wrestling and made them a true fan. For me, it was Rey Mysterio beating the odds and winning the Royal Rumble. For my other half, it was the iconic Hell in a Cell match between the Undertaker and Mick Foley. Of course, there are numerous iconic matches that everyone should see at least once in their life! So, without further ado, here are the best wrestling matches ever!

Number 1 – Undertaker Vs. Mick Foley (Hell In A Cell)

When you think about iconic matches, the first place your mind goes to is the unforgettable & brutal match between Mick Foley and the Undertaker. Mick Foley took some serious risks that night, and lost some teeth in the process. However, I honestly believe that this match made Mick Foley into the legend he is today!

Number 2 – Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 26

One of the most hyped-up matches in history undoubtedly, but boy did Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker deliver. Even though HBK did not break the streak, this is a match that is etched in our mind forever!

Number 3 – Hulk Hogan Vs. Andre the Giant (WrestleMania 3)

The match between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant is legendary to this day, even though it took place so many years ago. With every year passing, the weight of Andre the Giant during that match seems to be increasing, at least according to Hulk Hogan!

Number 4 – Shawn Michaels Vs. Kurt Angle (WrestleMania 2005)

Like the Undertaker, Shawn Michaels has more than one match in this list. The second match that stayed in my memory is the match he had with Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 2005. The highlights of this match? A lot of expert showmanship by Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle’s patented ankle lock.

Number 5 – Bret Hart Vs. Steve Austin (WrestleMania 1997)

WrestleMania is responsible for many outstanding matches; this includes the match between Bret Hart and Steve Austin. Even though this was a submission match – considered as quite boring by most fans – this was one of the most important matches in wrestling history nonetheless. This was also the match that would establish Austin as an excellent heel.

Number 6 – Hulk Hogan Vs. the Rock (WrestleMania 2002)

The match between Hulk Hogan and the Rock was certainly a dream match that did not disappoint. Even though Hogan was the heel in this situation, the crowd did put themselves squarely behind him; this due to the fact that it was his first match in almost ten years.

Given the legend status of Hulk Hogan and the Rock, and the fact that Hulk Hogan is pushing on a little, it is unlikely that we will see an iconic wrestling match like this again.

What did you think about my overview of my personal favourite matches? Do you have another top six? I’m curious to find out which matches stayed with you, so please leave me your top six in the comment section below. Also, be sure to mention which wrestling match or superstar got you into wrestling in the first place!
