…Even though this is not a surprise to many people – because there are many problems with RAW. Despite measures taken by RAW management, the show only got 2.61 million viewers, the lowest number of 2017. Of course, there are many explanations for this low rating, so I’ve created a summary of the main reasons why RAW is struggling!
It is no surprise that Brock Lesnar is on the top of my list of what’s wrong with RAW. The “champion” has not been seen on WWE television for months, and only Paul Heyman would make the occasional appearance since Brock’s title win.
Brock Lesnar is a prime example of what’s wrong with WWE and the creative department. He’s being advertised like he is Undertaker. News flash WWE, he most certainly is not!
Don’t get me wrong, I love Alexa Bliss and Bayley, but this rivalry has been so boring. Even the match at Extreme Rules – the kendo stick on a pole match – sounds extremely vanilla. The segments to promote this rivalry have also been abysmal, despite the obvious talent of both Bayley and Alexa. In short, poor writing by WWE creative!
Since the WWE is using a lot of the same people over and over again – Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Finn Balor – there are a lot of Superstars on the roster that are totally forgotten.
I could spend all day explaining which Superstars have been forgotten by the WWE, but let’s just stick to the following overview since there is a lot to go through yet: Nia Jax, Bo Dallas, Curt Hawkins, Curtis Axel, Darren Young, Heath Slater, Kalisto, Rhyno, and Mark Henry.
Compared to SmackDown – where surprises to happen – RAW is incredibly predictable. Most loyal wrestling fans already know what’s going to happen before the story develops.
A good example of this is the Lesnar issue. I already knew Lesnar was not going to defend his title until Great Balls of Fire. He might hold onto the title until WrestleMania, until he loses to Roman Reigns. Therefore, any rivalries in between are obsolete and Superstars simply become fodder for Lesnar. Unless creative makes some changes, it is set to be a boring year where stories are concerned.
Despite some major stars on the roster – this includes Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Nia Jax, and Sasha Banks – the RAW team does not seem to take it’s women’s division seriously.
Alexa is being protected by the WWE, while Bayley’s reputation as a Superstar has taken a hit. Other women are left in catering or forced to promote 205 Live in the next Pay-Per-View, for example Sasha Banks.
The problems within RAW are so clear, it’s difficult to understand why the WWE is not seeing it. They keep on continuing as usual, and any implemented changes take place way too late. Unless they listen to the fans and make full use of their roster, RAW will keep on losing viewers.
