Have you ever wanted to help others find a job? Now you can when you use the Job Spotter app. While you get to help others earn a living, you get paid for your efforts too! All you need is a smartphone to get started.
What is Job Spotter?
Job Spotter is an app created by the behemoth job search engine Indeed. If you have looked for a job online in recent years, you have most likely viewed a listing or maybe even submitted an application using Indeed.
If you are familiar with Indeed, you know it’s website platform is similar to Google or Craigslist. A white background and dark colored text with minimal pictures. It gets the job done, but, it still gives you that cold impression that your resume might be sent into an “internet black hole” never to resurface.
To help give Indeed a personal touch, Job Spotter pays you to take pictures of help wanted signs and the storefront of businesses that are hiring. To reward you for your time, each approved picture will give you points that can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards.
The Job Spotter app is available from the Google Play and App stores for free.
How Does Job Spotter Pay?
Job Spotter requires you to take two pictures for each listing. One picture is of the actual help wanted sign. The second picture is of the storefront, that way job seekers can recognize the building and business when they arrive at the address.
Depending on the quality of the sign, you can be awarded as little as five points or as much as 150 points. Each point is worth the equivalent of one penny. If you accumulate 100 points, you have $1.00 for your Amazon gift card reward.

Signs that pay the most amount of money tend to be small businesses with handmade signs. This largely boils down to supply and demand. As almost anybody can take a picture of the words “Now Hiring” on the marquee of the local fast food restaurant almost any day of the year, Job Spotter receives many of these submissions. As a result, they have low reward rates.
But, if you find a small business nestled away on a downtown street, you can get paid more if Job Spotter has received very few pictures. If you walk downtown to get to work or school, you might pass these help wanted signs every day. Now, you can get paid for stopping a few seconds to snap two pictures.
Once your pictures are approved, you will get paid according to their value. One downside with this app is that it can take four or five days for your pictures to be approved. Once they are approved, you immediately receive your credits.
Job Spotter Rewards
Currently, Job Spotter only pays Amazon e-gift cards as rewards. Since you can buy so many things at Amazon and the fact that Amazon is one of the busiest online retailers, this is a good reward.
You can redeem your point balance at any time. The Amazon gift cards will be delivered electronically.
Once again, the hiring sign in the Burger King window or on their roadside marquee will have the lowest payout, but, every submission increases your point balance. It pays (literally) to submit every sign possible.
It’s possible to earn anywhere from $10 to $25 a month by helping others find a job. That might not seem like a large payout, but, the app requires minimal effort to get paid and you might be helping somebody in the process.
Job Spotter App Tips for Success
Here’s a brief rundown of some of the things to remember to maximize your payout.
- Take a clear and detailed picture of the help wanted sign and the storefront
- Look for handwritten signs that list the contact person and phone number for larger payouts
- Must enable location services to verify the business location
- Upload as many hiring signs as possible, even if it is McDonald’s or the restaurant in the mall food court
- Images cannot contain people in the pictures. They will be automatically rejected.
Job Spotter is free to use and you get paid each time you upload a picture of a business that is hiring. If you constantly pass by hiring signs during the week or on the weekends, you can be getting paid to shop or walk. Best of all, you get to help others find a job in the process.
