Richard Wesley is a lucky man after this up close and personal encounter with a black bear. He had no help, and thought that he could subdue or even kill the bear all by himself.
I understand big game hunters and those who want to get that notch in their belt as they are fearless, but nothing comes close to a black bear rushing you and knocking you down.
I am not sure how he got away from the bear as the camera was knocked loose from his grip but the video is very scary and there is nothing to laugh about.

I am so happy after this confrontation with a black bear during our spring hunt. No wounds except a bruised elbow and ego where the bear threw me down. Genuinely happy that this was a non fatal or tragic outcome. Proving that the black bear is a wild and unpredictable animal. Again so happy with the outcome.

I would never have gotten caught up in this situation because my common sense is a lot more in tune than Wesley’s. I have to give him props as he survived this for YouTube video glory.
I won’t praise his actions and please do not copy this stunt as you might not be so lucky.
