Our Favorite Highlights From WWE Backlash

Backlash was better than I thought it would be, because there were only 2 matches I cared about originally: the SmackDown Tag Team Titles and Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles. Fortunately, there was a lot of amazing stuff in this pay-per-view, which made it that much better. So, without further ado, here are my favourite highlight from the Backlash PPV!

Match Debut of Shinsuke Nakamura

We had to wait long enough, but Shinsuke finally had a match! However, I think it was well worth the wait because the pop he got when he came out was amazing. Missed it? Watch the video and experience this amazing moment right now!

Becky Lynch’s Hair

Even though the women’s match was quite underwhelming in my opinion, with a distinct lack of story progression, there was one thing that really stood out – Becky Lynch’s hair! Sorry for the poor video quality guys, but it is quite difficult to find a decent video this close to the PPV!

Amazing Kevin Owens Vs. AJ Styles Match!

The match of the night was undoubtedly the match between Kevin Owens and AJ Styles, because these guys put on a show that could well be the match of the year in my opinion.

Their match started with the basic submission moves, as I expected since they use these moves to warm up. However, once they got going, there was no stopping Kevin Owens or AJ Styles. If you missed the PPV, make sure you at least watch this match on the WWE network!

Fashion Police Humour

Everyone knows I’m a huge fan of the Fashion Police. At Backlash, they’ve proved their comedy power once again, especially with Tyler Breeze’s ridiculous outfits! Have you ever seen a grandma attack the Usos in the ring? No? Then you have to watch this match between the Fashion Police and the Usos.

Jinder Mahal Takes the Title

As I predicted months earlier, Jinder Mahal has taken the title from Randy Orton in an amazing match. During the match, I was more impressed with Jinder Mahal than Orton, who appeared to be more versatile than I thought he would be. Unfortunately, Orton stayed with his usual moves, which made it predictable to a certain degree.

Even though I know that Mahal got his opportunity due to the WWE wanting the conquer the Indian market, I’m so happy that he took the title from Orton. Orton’s title reign has been extremely underwhelming, leaving a dusty Bray Wyatt storyline in his wake that had no purpose whatsoever.

Jinder taking the title opens the doors for some interesting story lines. Unfortunately, some of these stories will include Orton. So, I hope the rematch takes place sooner rather than later, so Jinder can move on to bigger and better things. Orton may be a 16-time champion, but his story lines simply did not catch my attention.
