Mary Kay Letourneau’s Former Student and Husband Files For Separation – It’s Not What You Expect!

The most unlikely of marriages is ending in separation. In the 1990s, the relationship between teacher Mary Kay Letourneau and her 12 year old student Vili Fualaau captured the nation. Now, the couple is parting ways.

Mary Kay couldn’t seem to stay away from Vili. Even after giving birth to their daughter while out on bail for the child rape of her young student, the pair hooked up in a car again, resulting in a second daughter. Their youngest daughter was born in prison.

The odd couple got married after her 2005 release from prison and Mary Kay’s divorce from her first husband with whom she had four children. Today she is 55 and he is 33. Now she is going to have to find a way to live without her child lover.

The couple had been married for 12 years before Vili filed for legal separation earlier this month as the video below details.

Their youngest daughter is graduating from high school, so the couple stayed together long enough to raise their children. This is not something that most people imagined when the relationship between the married teacher and her former 2nd grade student began twenty years ago.

The relationship stripped Vili of his childhood as he was faced with raising two daughters as a young teen. Hopefully he can find some happiness. After 20 years, he is now one year younger than Mary Kay was when he was manipulated into this appalling relationship.

However, according to TMZ Mary Kay is not giving up on Vili. She has filed a petition in order to have his separation case dismissed.

But in the most bizarre twist, Fualauu told Radar Online:

It’s not necessarily what you think. Everything is fine between us. All the rumors that you hear between us. It’s fine. Of course [we are still in love]. A piece of paper doesn’t break someone’s feelings!

Fualauu claims the separation is to protect his upcoming business venture with distributor “Cigaweed.”

“When you want to get licensend, they do background checks on both parties,” Fualaau explained. “If I decide to be a part of it I have to be licensed and I have to be vetted and so does a spouse. She has a past. She has a history.”
