Some WWE Superstars make it big; this certainly applies to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who is a genuine box office star! Anything Dwayne seems to touch turns into gold, so let us look back on the impressive career of this WWE legend!
Not everyone knows this, but when the Rock made his debut in the World Wrestling Federation, he was not liked by the people who would later make him a legend. His original character was Rocky Maivia, a character that could count on a lot of hostility from the WWF fans, resulting in chants such as “Die, Rocky, Die” and “Rocky Sucks!”
Fortunately, the Rocky Maivia character wore off over time, so now we know the Rock as the people’s champ! Still, his success did not come until he turned heel.
Because of his unique character, it was only a matter of time before he ended up in the mainstream pop culture. It started with little things such as a monologue on Saturday Night Live, but eventually he moved on to major movie roles!
Those who do not know about the wrestling history of Dwayne Johnson, probably know him best from his movie roles. The Rock has been in countless big movie releases; this includes Hercules, the Game Plan, and the Fast & Furious movie series.
Dwayne Johnson made a mark in the world when he appeared in the Mummy Returns and the Scorpion King in 2001 and 2002. Aside from that, he did a number of supporting roles, but every little bit helped to get the Rock to the point where he is now!
Many people want Dwayne Johnson to become the next U.S president. I’m not surprised, because what is not to like about the Rock?
During the 42nd season finale of Saturday Night Live, Dwayne Johnson jokingly said he would run for president of the United States. Even though it was obviously a joke, many people want it to be true!
There are many reasons to be excited about the Rock’s future projects, because the announcement came in January that the Rock would play Black Adam in a DC Universe film! He is also working on Fighting with my Family, a film about WWE Diva Paige and her family!
In 2017, you will also see the Rock in films such as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Baywatch and the Fate of the Furious. He is also scheduled for the movie Rampage in 2018.
Aside from Rampage, the Rock is planning on filming another movie in 2018. Jungle Cruise is set to start filming in the beginning of 2018, which also has something to do with the namesake theme park ride in the Walt Disney Parks. The actual ride will be transformed too, so if you plan to visit the park in the future, be sure you do it after the refurbishing of Jungle Cruise.
