North Korea: We Will Never Stop Nuclear And Missile Tests

A North Korean government official declared the communist regime will “never stop” their nuclear and missile tests as long as America continues its “hostile acts.”

“The nuclear test is an important part of our continued efforts to strengthen our nuclear forces,” said Sok Chol Won, director of the North’s Institute of Human Rights at the Academy of Social Sciences. Sok Chol Won continued, “As long as America continues its hostile acts of aggression, we will never stop nuclear and missile tests.”

This latest threat comes just days after Kim Jung Un oversaw North Korea’s largest live-fire artillery exercise on its military’s 85th anniversary.

A North Korean government newspaper, the Rodung Sinmun, also threatened, “There is no limit to the strike power of the People’s Army armed with our style of cutting-edge military equipment, including various precision and miniaturised nuclear weapons and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.”

It’s also possible this warning is in response to the nuclear-powered USS Michigan making port in South Korea. The USS Michigan is a submarine designed to carry ballistic and cruise missiles. It arrived in South Korea ahead of a naval strike group flag shipped by the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. The submarine will also be joined by U.S. destroyers that are participating in live-fire exercises with the South Korean navy.

The United States also test launched an ICBM earlier this week. The Minuteman III launched from Vandenburg Air Force Base in California, and hit its target 4,200 miles away in the Marshall Islands.

The United States and South Korea are also deploying a THAAD anti-missile defense system in South Korea to fend off any potential attack from North Korea.

South Korea’s presidential office noted how the U.S. and South Korea are working together, “The two sides pledged that in the event of additional strategic provocation by the North to swiftly take punitive measures including a new U.N. Security Council resolution that are unbearable for the North.”

The top U.S. Commander in the Asia-Pacific Admiral Harry Harris reinforced President Trump and Secretary of Defense Mattis’s previous statements that in dealing with North Korea, “all options are on the table.” However, he did note that “we want to bring Kim Jung Un to his senses not to his knees.”
