An Air National Guard F-16C Fighting Falcon fighter jet crashed outside Washington, D.C., Wednesday morning near Joint Base Andrews.
The plane crashed at approximately 9:17 a.m. local time just six miles southwest of Joint Base Andrews. The fighter jet appears to have come down in the 4200 block of Steed Road in Clinton, Maryland.
The pilot from the D.C. Air National Guard’s 113th Wing ejected from the fighter pilot and only “sustained non-life threatening injuries” according to Joint Base Andrews spokesman Tech. Sgt. Robert Cloys.
Law enforcement are closing roads and evacuating individuals from nearby homes. Prince George’s County fire department spokesman Mark Brady told WRC-TV that “homes are being evacuated.”

Officials are asking anyone in the community to let officials know if they find any pieces of the aircraft.
