Sources close to the situation say that Fox News is letting longtime anchor Bill O’Reilly go.

According to New York magazine, the Murdoch family is making moves to pay O’Reilly’s contract out.

New York Magazine reports:

“Wednesday morning, according to sources, executives are holding emergency meetings to discuss how they can sever the relationship with the country’s highest-rated cable-news host without causing collateral damage to the network. The board of Fox News’ parent company, 21st Century Fox, is scheduled to meet on Thursday to discuss the matter.”

The firing of O’Reilly stems from multiple allegations of sexual harassment lodged against the host. Advertisers have been leaving the show in droves, resulting in a what one can only imagine is a substantial loss of revenue.

Bill O’Reilly’s “The O’Reilly Factor” has been the most-viewed primetime cable news show for years running.

But it looks like that long run is about to come to an end.
