3 Ways To Make WrestleMania Shorter And More Enjoyable

This year’s WrestleMania clocked in at around 7 hours. That includes the Kickoff Show and the ending that saw the Undertaker leave his gear in the ring and possibly retire.

You could tell the audience was exhausted when the Undertaker-Reigns match hit the ring. And can you blame them? Sitting anywhere for seven hours, much less a light and pyro-filled wrestling show is going to make you a little tired.

But there are solutions. Taking ideas from music festivals and the past of WWE, we’ve come up with a few solutions to make Wrestlemania shorter, more exciting, and more enjoyable.

Split WrestleMania into two days

Instead of having EVERY match on a long seven-hour card, why not split it into two 4 hour nights? Each night can have a main event and there won’t be a feeling that matches are being rushed. Wherever Wrestlemania takes place is under the control of WWE for that entire week, and the massive Mania set is often done by Thursday or Friday. You can have the Hall of Fame on Thursday, NXT Friday, Wrestlemania Saturday and Sunday.

You’d probably have more fans coming because people would want to go to either one night or both nights to see the matches they want to see.

Wrestlemania Fest

Think Bonnaroo or Coachella – but for Wrestling. It could be a three-day “come and go as you please” festival where fans can watch different matches, go to autograph signings, and even non-wrestling performances. Flo Rida could have his own pavilion! You’re gathering fans in a central location and also allowing them to pick and choose what they want.

Recreate Wrestlemania 2

Wrestlemania 2 was the only Show of Shows to be held in multiple locations. The spectacle involved three different venues across the United States: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles. This goes back to the first solution, instead of ONE big show you can have three regular sized shows. Each one could have its own theme and a big attraction. You could pick three different cities every year. Have one main center and change the other two. Keep two and only change one. There are a lot of possibilities here! Only this time, don’t do a battle royal involving NFL players.

All of these ideas are far-fetched and have their own big problems (wrestling fans standing out in a hot field all day? WHAT COULD GO WRONG!?) but something has to change. WWE knows fans have microscopic attention spans, so why subject people to something that they’re just going to tune out of? WWE is known for innovation and changing when they need to, and it is time to change Wrestlemania.
