Rodney Dangerfield never got any respect. But, that’s what we loved about him. His comedy was so unique and hilarious because we could really relate to it.
In 1980, Dangerfield visited The Tonight Show to promote “Caddyshack” and his album “No Respect.” He had the audience howling with a stand-up routine, but the real fun started when he sat on the couch and spoke with Johnny.
Carson obviously enjoyed having Rodney on the show and so did everyone who watched it. Today’s comedy can’t light a candle to Rodney Dangerfield. It’s fun to see him promoting “Caddyshack,” a movie that has stood the test of time!
My favorite joke during the stand-up was when he asks the bellhop to handle his bag. I’m still laughing after the punchline.
