Bearizona Wildlife Park On Lock Down After Active Shooter Reported!

Update: The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office have provided details about the incident. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn reported a YCSO K9 attempted to stop a maroon 4 door sedan for a traffic violation. However, the vehicle failed to yield and a male passenger was thrown from the vehicle and subsequently detained.

The K9 unit continued pursuit with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. The 4 door sedan eventually became disabled and pulled off at milepost 165 near the Bearizona attraction where it crashed into a culvert. The suspect then fled from the vehicle and fired towards deputies with a handgun. The police believe the suspect may be injured.

Police identified the suspect as John Freeman. He is 6 feet tall, 170 pounds with hazel eyes, brown hair and a tattoo on his left arm. It’s likely he is wearing a denim shirt and denim pants.

D’Evelyn reported, “This suspect is armed and dangerous — Several law enforcement agencies and SWAT teams are coordinating search efforts in a large radius around I-40 and milepost 165. If anyone sees the is suspect, call 911 immediately. Do not pick up hitchhikers in this area.. suspect has a warrant out of Kingman,”

An active shooter has been reported at the Bearizona Wildlife Park in Williams, Arizona.

The wildlife park, located at 1500 Historic Rte. 66, has been placed on lockdown. It was placed on lockdown at 11:30 am PT.

Initial reports indicate the suspect began firing on police.

The wildlife park is currently trying to evacuate visitors as it deems safe to do so.

No one is allowed to enter or leave the park. The police are asking everyone to avoid the area.
