The consensus is that Conor McGregor will be outclassed by Floyd Mayweather, if they ever, in fact box, but the UFC champ’s buddy has a very different take on it. Not only that, but McGregor’s teammate believes the Irish star would quickly take out another boxing great, Manny Pacquiao.

That friend and training partner, of course, is Artem Lobov. Recently the Russian featherweight appeared on “The MMA Hour”, in advance of his April 22nd bout with Cub Swanson. Since there’s been no shortage of talk about McGregor boxing Mayweather as of late, naturally, Lobov was asked to weigh-in on the rumored bout. Here is some of what the SBG fighter had to say (quote via MMA Fighting):

“Being honest, and I know I’m going to get a lot of hate from it, but I don’t see Mayweather making it past the sixth round,” Lobov said. “And if it was Pacquiao, I don’t see Pacquiao making it past two rounds. And look, I was the one that predicted the one minute against Aldo. There is an interview of me, I can’t find it now, but there is a video of me where Conor keeps talking about four minutes, saying around the four-minute mark he was going to stop Aldo, and me saying, ‘no, forget the four minutes. It doesn’t get out of the first minute,’ and sure enough it was.”

Now, Lobov’s likely correct in that he’s going to take some heat for making these statements. Not only is Mayweather considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, his defensive skills are off the charts. Thus, most pundits and observers believe McGregor would be in for a long night against “Money”.

Pacquiao has been knocked out, and isn’t held in the same regard as Mayweather, but he’s one of the greatest boxers of this generation, if not ever. So, chances are not too many folks are on board with that call either.

But, hey, folks have underestimated McGregor before. No question.
