Queen Elizabeth just celebrated her Sapphire Jubilee, marking her 65th anniversary as sitting monarch of the United Kingdom.

She’s the first monarch to have achieved this incredible milestone.

To celebrate such a great achievement, Buckingham Palace re-released a 2014 picture of the Queen wearing sapphire jewelry.

Queen Elizabeth is the longest serving monarch in British history. She ascended to the throne on February 6, 1952 after the death of her father, King George VI. Her reign encompassed nearly half of the twentieth century, as she helped lead her country out of the destruction of World War II and into the modern era.
