There might not be two more American styles of music than gospel and bluegrass. Both were born out of the working men and women of the South putting their lives and their faith into song.

The genres often meld and have roots in the American South and a deep Christian and evangelical faith.

They also share simple melodies, a love of instruments, and steady rhythms. Many bluegrass and gospel singers have often swapped and blended the genres when performing.

One man that exemplified this was Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley.

Mr. Stanley shows that even late in his life he could still sing incredible praise music.

Listen to him and his band perform some of that good ol-timey music!

Just amazing!

Ralph Stanley is one of my favorites. His unique and powerful voice always gets my foot tapping!
