FLASHBACK to the Classic Moment Lucy Told Ricky They Were Having a Baby

There really hasn’t been another show like “I Love Lucy.” It broke a lot of barriers at a time when television was still new.

When Lucille Ball became pregnant with her son, they wrote it into the script. At that time, the word “pregnant” was too vulgar to say on television, so they simply said she was “expecting.”

The clip of Lucy telling Ricky that they were going to have a baby is perhaps my favorite one of the entire series. It’s so very sweet and full of emotion.

She told him during one of his performances. You can tell how excited this real life couple was to be expecting in the video below.

That was just a perfect blend of humor and emotion. I still tear up watching it even though I’ve seen it dozens of times.
