A U.S. Navy patrol ship fired warning shots at an Iranian ship in the Northern Persian Gulf on Wednesday. The Iranian ship sailed within 200 yards of the Navy patrol ship in the second close encounter between the U.S. Navy and Iran this week.
Bret Baier breaks it down:
Earlier in the week the USS Nitze, a guided missile destroyer, was harassed by four small Iranian boats in the Persian Gulf.
The USS Nitze fired flares and sounded the ship’s horn as the Iranian boats came closer. Despite these measures, the USS Nitze was still forced to change course coming dangerously close to offshore oil rigs.
Watch the encounter:
These two incidents come off the capture of 10 U.S. sailors in January and a number of other smaller incidents including the firing of rockets near U.S. vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Not to mention the disaster of a nuclear deal Obama made with Iran giving them $1.3 billion.
Iran’s Tasnim news agency quotes Iranian General Dehgan, “if any foreign vessel enters our waters, we warn them, and if it’s an invasion, we confront.”
It is believed that there are 100,000 Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and thousands more in Syria.
How do you think the United States should deal with Iran and their aggressive naval maneuvers?
