Classic Hollywood’s 10 Dreamiest Actors

Clark Gable was often referred to as The King Of Hollywood. Best known for his role as Rhett Butler in “Gone With The Wind,” This leading man wowed a lot of women.

Doris Day said of Gable, “He was as masculine as any man I’ve ever known, and as much a little boy as a grown man could be – it was this combination that had such a devastating effect on women.”

Gene Kelly was known for his dancing, good looks and playing likable characters. “Singing In The Rain” is often ranked as the #1 musical of all time. Kelly’s performance is worth watching all these years later.

Burt Lancaster often played tough guy roles. He was nominated for four Oscars, winning once.

Lancaster was quite the ladies man. He married several times. He even walked down the altar with his first wife twice.

Cary Grant had the looks and the British accent. He was known as one of classic Hollywood’s definitive leading men.

Marlon Brando’s career spanned several decades. While he’s probably best remembered for his role as Don Corleone in the Godfather series, he was well regarded far before then. Who could forget “A Streetcar Named Desire”?

Gary Cooper began his movie career in the silent film era. He was one of the few whose career continued when sound was added to films. The conservative Republican enjoyed a lengthy Hollywood career. Take a look at him and you can see why.

Paul Newman’s piercing blue eyes made an impression upon women throughout the world. He was one of only four actors to have been nominated for an Academy Award in five different decades.

Newman’s charitable legacy still continues with his Newman’s own food line whose profits go to charity.

John Wayne was one of America’s tough guys. He was a man and he didn’t apologize for it. He wasn’t worried about being politically correct and he was always a conservative.

The Chairman of the Board was wanted by women throughout the world. He was arguably one of the best singers ever. The rumors of his ties to the mafia added to his mystique.

Dean Martin was the King of Cool. He could sing, dance and act – and that face!! Mostly, he was just a lot of fun. He was the man everyone wanted to be friends with. He was the consulate entertainer. He wasn’t pompous. He just wanted to have fun and entertain.

His roasts are still fun to watch decades later. His humor was eternal and his talent is beyond comparison.

That’s why he deserves top billing. Hats off to Dino Crochetti!
