Robert McDonald

Secretary of Veteran Affairs (VA) Robert McDonald sullied all veterans when he disparaged the wait times veterans have to endure in order to receive health care.

What in the world is wrong with this guy? Our veterans deserve the very best our nation has to offer. That includes quality health care. Health care is not a right. It is a privilege and any person putting on the uniform is deserving of that privilege, no questions asked.

It is outrageous that our veterans are treated like garbage by bureaucrats at the VA who are more concerned with process than actually delivering care. This is why veterans are stuck waiting months for care. Having dealt with the VA myself in assisting my father, I can honestly say the caregivers are for the most part, competent and truly care about their patients. It’s the bureaucrats and administrators that piss me off.

So when Robert McDonald, said the following, I saw red:

“When you got to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? Or what’s important? What’s important is, what’s your satisfaction with the experience?” McDonald said Monday during a Christian Science Monitor breakfast with reporters. “And what I would like to move to, eventually, is that kind of measure.”

First of all, comparing waiting in line at an amusement park to waiting for treatment from a doctor is disgusting. Second of all it goes to show he is clueless about places like DisneyWorld. Long waits in line are their number one complaint. It is the reason Disney came up with what they call FastPass. It is a service that allows people to arrive at a ride at a specific time and skip the regular line.

So yes, it is something Disney measures!

It is unfathomable how people can be so callous. The moment somebody signs the paper to enlist in the armed forces, they are saying, “I am willing to put my life on the line for my country.” When they need medical care, they deserve far better than to be compared to tourists waiting in line to ride Space Mountain.

If you have veterans in your family or friends that do, share this. Let people know this is unacceptable. We demand better for our heroes in uniform.
