It was announced on Thursday that Hollywood star Michelle Pfeiffer will be starring in a new spinoff of the hit show Yellowstone that will be called The Madison.
So far, there have been two spinoffs of the wildly popular show – with The Madison making the third and most recent chronologically.
Pfeiffer To Star In Yellowstone Spinoff
The Madison will be a bit different: showing ranch life from a completely different angle.
The show will tell the story of a New York City family living in the Madison River valley of central Montana. The show is described as a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection.”
“Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace,” Chris McCarthy, the co-CEO of Paramount Global and President/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, told People Magazine.
“She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the Yellowstone universe, The Madison, from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan,” he added.
Meanwhile, the A-list Hollywood star Kurt Russell and the former Suits actor Patrick J. Adams are also rumored to be in talks to appear in The Madison. However, no other stars have been confirmed aside from Pfeiffer.
Production is reportedly set to begin soon in New York, Montana, and Texas. The Madison is set to premiere in 2025 after the series finale of Yellowstone.
Indeed, this is just one of many Yellowstone spinoff series. Others include 1883 starring Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott, and 1923 starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. Aside from The Madison, another Yellowstone prequel series is in the works called 1944. Though this series has been given the green light, no details about it have been made available at this time.
Kevin Costner Leaves Yellowstone
This also comes two months after the Yellowstone star Kevin Costner confirmed that he will not be returning to the show to finish out the fifth and final season. Instead, he wants to focus on his four-part western epic film series Horizon: An American Saga.
Which, so far, has not been going well.
“It was a necessary decision to say, ‘Hey, OK, I don’t want to really talk about this anymore. It’s time to move on,’” Costner, 69, told The Hollywood Reporter at the time, referring to Yellowstone.
Costner later addressed his exit on Instagram.
“I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that that’s required,” he told his fans. “Thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love, that I know you love. I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue, season five or into the future.”
“I loved it and I know you loved it,” he also said. Costner went on to say that he “just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning. I love the relationships that I’ve been able to develop. And I’ll see you at the movies.”

Pfeiffer’s History
Pfeiffer, 66, has been an A-list Hollywood star for decades. She has been nominated for three Oscars, and she is arguably best known for playing Catwoman in the 1992 hit movie Batman Returns.
Pfeiffer recently portrayed Betty Ford in the Showtime anthology The First Lady. Finally, she can next be seen on Oh. What. Fun! for Amazon.
Yellowstone is one of the best shows on television right now. We can only hope that The Madison is just as good!
