It’s hard to believe that the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame (HOF) took place less than a week ago. It was incredible to see Rey Mysterio, The Great Muta, Andy Kaufman, Stacy Keibler, and Tim White get inducted. With that said, there’s news on Ric Flair and his speech.

Ric Flair WWE Hall Of Fame Issue

There were those who thought Sting should have inducted The Great Muta into this year’s HOF. However, as he’s active on the AEW roster, this could be the reason why “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair was chosen.

It’s undeniable that Flair and Muta had an incredible rivalry over the NWA World Heavyweight Championship back in the day. It’s also a well-known fact that Ric is one of the best on the mic of his generation.

In fact, he’s one of the best for cutting promos of any generation. Still, his HOF speeches aren’t that memorable.

That’s because Naitch tends to focus on himself, versus the person he’s inducting. A fine example of this is when he inducted Sting into the 2016 HOF.

Ric Flair & WWE Hall Of Fame – WWE Wasn’t Happy

Still, Flair’s speech for Muta at the WWE Hall of Fame was short. However, he did spend some time, once again, telling the audience about himself.

According to Fightful Select, Konnan’s induction speech for Mysterio was “well-received” by the WWE. They reported the “opposite” was felt by many when it came to Ric Flair’s speech for Muta.

Over to AEW news, what’s Nigel McGuinness’s AEW status since participating in the Ring of Honor (ROH) Supercard of Honor pay-per-view (PPV)? WNZ has a huge update, below.

Nigel McGuinness’ AEW Status

Good news for Nigel McGuinness fans! After his splashing return to commentary during ROH’s Supercard of Honor PPV, it seems as if he’ll continue to work in AEW.

The AEW President and ROH owner jumped on Twitter recently and announced that McGuinness is “All Elite”. He also called the former ROH World Champion a “legend” in pro wrestling.

Nigel McGuinness’s History In Color Commentating

The WWE released Nigel in October 2022 following a color commentator run for NXT (2017-2020), as well as 205 Live, NXT UK, and NXT Level Up. McGuinness showed up during the Zero Hour pre-show for the Supercard of Honor.

He stayed to do commentary for the rest of the event. This is six months after leaving the WWE, and his first time back with ROH since 2016.

It’s unclear what role he’ll play for AEW moving forward. While he’s “All Elite”, Khan has hinted that Nigel would be perfect for commentary on a revamped ROH brand.

There’s also a small chance he could step back into the ring. While McGuinness hasn’t competed in the squared circle since 2011, he has stated multiple times that he could wrestle again if he wanted to.

With that said, he has had to deal with a number of injuries and was diagnosed with hepatitis B some time ago. It’s likely Nigel will remain at the color commentary, but only time will tell.
