A building collapsed on Tuesday in Nigeria’s largest city causing the deaths of at least eight people. At least 15 people have been rescued from the rubble of the residential building.

Building collapses aren’t uncommon in Nigeria where infrastructure suffers because of public corruption.

“There was confusion everywhere. After we were able to dig out, one of my sons came out unscratched through the grace of God but one of them, my last born, 12 years of age, Emeka was crushed to death,” said Egwumu Chienye, who survived the building’s collapse.

It’s is unimaginable to think of your child being crushed to death in your home in large part because corrupt public officials turn a blind eye to these dangers. These families certainly could use our prayers.
