Success of Past Films
Both Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2 are among the top 10 most-watched Disney Channel original movies. They were the top cable movie among viewers ages 2-17 in the years they premiered.
When interviewed about the films, Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said:
“‘Camp Rock’ is an important part of the Disney Channel Original Movie legacy, with unforgettable music, energetic storytelling, and characters that live in the hearts of fans to this day. Bringing it back with Kevin, Joe, Nick, and Demi is such a full-circle moment, and we can’t wait to reintroduce this world to a new generation.”
In the original Camp Rock from 2008, the Jonas Brothers played Connect 3, a popular boy band. They return to the music camp that launched their careers to build good press for Shane, who has gotten a bit of a bad boy reputation. There he meets and befriends Mitchie, a girl from a low-income family attending on scholarship. She struggles to fit in with the wealthier campers.
Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam premiered in 2010. In the second installment, Camp Rock is at risk of being shut down by a rival camp. It’s up to the campers to save it.
