A group of young kids decided it would be a bright idea to get together and let a bullet ant sting them.
The bullet ant or paraponera clavata usually inhabits the rainforests of Nicaragua. And its aptly named. The bullet ant’s sting is ranked as the most painful according to the Schmidt sting pain index with a 4+ rating. That’s higher than the tarantula hawk wasp!
People have described the ant’s sting as causing “waves of burning, throbbing, all-consuming pain that continues unabated for up to 24 hours.”
The Sateré-Mawé people of Brazil use the ant in their initiation rites to become a warrior.
The ant in the video below waited until the last guy handled it to give him a full sting. And you could tell by his face that it wasn’t pleasant!
No thanks! There is absolutely no way I would ever allow any kind of dangerous animal to willingly attack me. doing this. And these kids got what they asked for!
