base jumper parachute fail

People gathered around a 24 story building in Stockholm, Sweden to watch a base jumper saw more then they bargained for when the jumper’s parachute failed to deploy.

The jumper is seen flailing his arms as he realizes that his parachute was not going to come to his rescue as onlookers watched in horror from below. This was a stunt gone horribly wrong!

The base jumper fell 246 feet before slamming into the asphalt in front of his friends and people eating at a restaurant on the ground floor. Imagine looking up from your sandwich to see a man falling from the sky!

Miraculously, the base jumper survived without life-threatening injuries. Watch the alarming video below. The footage was filmed by someone watching from the ground.

How in the world did this man survive? My heart skipped a beat just watching that. He is so fortunate that he didn’t land on his head.

The word ‘base’ in base jumping is an acronym for buildings, antennas, spans (such as bridges), and Earth (such as cliffs and mountaintops). Base jumping off buildings is not illegal according to Stockholm Police. It is only illegal if the roof or the floor where the jumper accessed the building wasn’t legally accessed. This particular building has had multiple base jumpers leap from the rooftop.

This occurred on Kungsholmen, one of the islands that make up the capital of Sweden.

It is absolutely amazing that the man not only survived but does not have life-threatening injuries. He must have an angel looking out for him. Next time, the angel should make sure his parachute works properly! I wonder if he will return to base jumping after he heals from his injuries.

Share this if you are amazed that this man survived this base jump!
