Legendary fitness guru Richard Simmons tragically died suddenly earlier this month one day after his 76th birthday. Now, his team has released his final photo and the last social media post that he approved before his passing.

Simmons’ Last Photo And Post

“Richard worked very hard on his posts for you,” Simmons’ team wrote on his social media accounts. “He had many ideas and would work ahead… going back to each one making changes until he had it just like he wanted before posting.”

“As you know, on the weekends, he would just share a photo with a caption. He always chose his photos and wrote his captions for the upcoming weekend by Friday,” they added. “So we have the post Richard planned to share with you last Sunday. We thought you’d want to see it.”

Simmons’ final photo showed him with gray hair, wearing a bright orange NASA spacesuit costume.

“Here is the post Richard had planned for you for Sunday July 14, 2024,” his team concluded. “‘Let me fly you to the moon so we can gaze among the stars. Love, Richard.'”

Simmons’ Death And Burial

Simmons died at his home in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, July 13, just one day after his 76th birthday. An official cause of death has not been revealed. While police are still investigating, they have ruled out foul play.

Simmons’ older brother Lenny has since revealed that he was buried at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary in Los Angeles.

Simmons’ Final Interview

Though Simmons stayed out of the public eye and was reclusive for the last ten years of his life, he remained active on social media. Just before his 76th birthday, he gave his final interview to People.

“I feel good! I am grateful that I’m here, that I am alive for another day,” he said. “I’ll spend my birthday doing what I do every day, which is to help people.”

“Today is a beautiful day,” he continued. “But nothing’s really different. I got up this morning. I said my prayers, I counted my blessings, and then I went to work. You know? And writing messages, answering emails — and when the email is real extreme, I ask for their numbers, and I call them. I’m feeling great, ‘cause I’m helping people.”

Simmons had previously shared an inspirational message with fans back in March.

“Tell the ones that you love that you love them,” he said at the time. “Hug those people and children who you really care for. A big hug really goes a long way.”

“Sure, once in a while, have dessert,” he later added.

Simmons was a true legend, and there will never be another one like him. Please join us in saying a prayer for his loved ones as they continue to mourn him.
