Rumors are swirling that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are headed for divorce two years after they married. Last week, Lopez was asked directly about these rumors, and her response was telling.
Lopez Sounds Off
While promoting her new Netflix movie Atlas in Mexico City, Lopez was asked by a reporter if she’s divorcing Affleck.
“Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumors?” the reporter asked. “What is the truth? What is the truth of the situation?”
Lopez looked visibly flustered by the question. Her co-star Simu Liu quickly interjected to say, “Okay, we’re not doing that.”
“Thank you so much guys, we really appreciate it. Thank you,” he continued.
Lopez then leaned forward in her chair and pointedly told the reporter, “You know better than that.”
“C’mon, don’t come in with that energy, please,” Liu added.

Rumors About Lopez And Affleck
Lopez, 54, and Affleck, 51, have yet to publicly address the speculation about the status of their marriage, according to The New York Post. Affleck was noticeably absent when Lopez attended the premiere of Atlas alone last week.
Rumors of Lopez and Affleck splitting began when she attended the Met Gala solo on May 6. Reports then circulated that Affleck was living in a separate home from Lopez. She was subsequently seen house hunting without her husband.
Last week, Page Six reported that Affleck wants out of his marriage to Lopez. He’s allegedly telling friends that he has “come to his senses” about his failing marriage.
“If there was a way to divorce on grounds of temporary insanity, he would,” our insider said. “He feels like the last two years was just a fever dream, and he’s come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work.”

Affleck And Lopez Disagree About Media Attention
Other sources told People Magazine that Lopez and Affleck do not agree when it comes to handling attention from the media.
“They just have very different approaches when it comes to media attention,” said another insider. “Ben hates all attention and it makes him very uncomfortable. Jennifer has always had a different approach.”
The source went on to say that it is simply not “his way” to share so much about his personal life.
“It doesn’t make him happy and causes stress in his life and then in hers,” the insider explained. “There is no question their different styles clash.”
Yet another source from the music world told Daily Mail that Lopez “needs that expression but Affleck simply is not comfortable with it. After a while it causes tension in the relationship.”
“He is more introspective and private,” this insider added. “She likes to open her heart to her fans and to the world. This makes them considerably different, and it has been difficult in the day-to-day relationship.”
Affleck And Lopez’s History
Affleck and Lopez met in December of 2001 on the set of their movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 days before it was set to take place.

Affleck and Lopez each went on to marry and divorce other people, and to have children with their respective spouses. They shocked the world when they reunited in 2021, and then married in August of 2022.
This is clearly a very complicated situation for everyone involved. Only time will tell if Affleck and Lopez’s marriage is able to survive this!
