Earlier this month, we reported that the pop star Katy Perry was facing major backlash for suing a “dying” 85 year-old veteran for his $15 million mansion. On Tuesday, Katy testified in court regarding this case.

Now, this testimony is blowing up in Katy’s face. Indeed, the veteran’s family is firing back at her, going so far as to brand Katy as a “wicked witch.”

‘The Wicked Witch…’

The family of the elderly veteran Carl Westcott had some choice words for Katy after her bombshell testimony.

“It was good for her to have the Wicked Witch finally come out of the West,” Westcott’s son Chart told The New York Post.

Katy has been embroiled in a legal battle with Carl for many years. It all started in 2020, when the elderly veteran sold Perry his $15 million mansion in 2020 via her business manager Bernie Gudvi.

Carl, who suffers from the neurological disorder Huntington’s disease, changed his mind days later. Indeed, he tried to back out of this deal. He claimed that he hadn’t been in his right mind when he made the deal. Westcott alleged that he had been under the influence of pain medication following a recent surgery.

Katy, however, refused to let Carl out of the deal. In December of 2023, a judge ruled in Katy’s favor, declaring her to be the rightful owner of the mansion in Santa Barbara, California.

Now, Katy is seeking up to $4.8 million in damages from Carl. This includes an additional $2 million for damages to the property, citing structural defects, deferred maintenance, and lost rental income.

The judge has split their non-jury trial into two parts. The damages part of it took place last year. The penalty phase began last week.

While testifying virtually on Tuesday, Katy claimed that she is fighting for “justice.” The Westcott family, however, isn’t having any of that.

Westcott’s Sons Sound Off

Carl’s other son Court described Katy’s testimony as being “a bit calculated and ingratiating.”

“But I wasn’t surprised by that as well,” he said. “I expected that. Just disingenuous.”

“I’m feeling really good about where we stand,” Court continued. “It’s truly a blessing to be able to defend my father, who has been unable to defend himself while he’s now on his deathbed. You know, this has been a five-year, horrible, horrible experience for my family and for my father.”

“Bottom line, just because you can carry a tune doesn’t mean you deserve the applause,” he added.

Chart was quick to agree. In his opinion, Katy’s testimony sounded “sort of rehearsed, like a robot.”

Chart then claimed that Katy has shown “a pattern of disrespect” for years throughout this legal battle.

“Then she appears in pajamas before the judge. So, you know, just disrespectful,” Chart lamented. “I think [it’s] reflective of how she views everyone in the world. They are all, you know, less than her. They’re all not important to her. We’re all just her little playthings to do what she wants.”

Chart’s Message For Katy

When asked if he would talk to Katy personally if given the chance, Chart had a powerful response.

“If I could address Katy Perry or Katheryn Hudson [her real name], the human being, I might be interested in talking to that person. But I don’t think that person is there anymore,” Chart stated.

“It has been replaced by whatever Hollywood has done to her soul. And so all that is left is the shadow of someone who used to be a young girl and a child with a dream,” he concluded. “To go to Hollywood, and it’s chewed her up and spit her out. And what’s left is on display for the entire world to see. So, no, I don’t want to talk to her.”

The trial is expected to last six days. Katy is currently preparing to go overseas for her Lifetimes tour next week. It will certainly be interesting to see how this case turns out!
