Earlier this month, we reported that Whoopi Goldberg had shocked her fans when she claimed that she can’t “afford” to retire. This was surprising to many, as Goldberg makes $8 million a year co-hosting the ABC talk show The View. She also has an estimated net worth of between $30 million and $60 million.

Now, this has backfired on Goldberg in a big way. Indeed, according to insiders, ABC executives are fuming with Goldberg about this rant. In fact, it seems that this might just be the last straw for Goldberg when it comes to her relationship with ABC.

Multi-Millionaire Goldberg Whines About Her Finances

Two weeks ago, Goldberg was asked by Entertainment Tonight if she’s considering “slowing down” at all as she prepares to turn 70 in November.

“Who can afford to do that?” an incredulous Goldberg fired back.

“If you don’t marry well, you gotta keep working,” Goldberg, 69, shockingly went on to claim.

The reporter, who was seemingly stunned by the Sister Act star’s response, pointed out that Goldberg “could probably afford” to retire. However, she wasn’t having any of it. Instead, Goldberg responded, “No, not by now. Not yet.”

“I gotta keep paying those bills, baby,” she concluded.

ABC Executives ‘Are Tired’ Of Goldberg

Unfortunately for Goldberg, an ABC insider is now speaking out to reveal that this rant didn’t go over well with the network that airs her talk show The View.

“It’s tone-deaf,” said the ABC insider. “Everyday people are struggling, and Whoopi’s crying poor on daytime TV. It makes her look completely out of touch.”

The source went on to allege that ABC executives are so fed up with Goldberg that they are “looking hard at a refresh — maybe even a total overhaul” of The View’s panel.

“Executives are tired of cleaning up her messes,” the insider concluded. “Patience is running out.”

Goldberg’s Previous Comments

Making matters even worse for Goldberg, this wasn’t the first time that she’s complained about her alleged financial struggles. Last year, she told her audience that she wouldn’t even be on The View anymore if she didn’t need the money.

“I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me, too. I work for a living,” she claimed during a Hot Topics segment about voting. “If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, okay? So, I’m a working person, you know?”

“My kid has to feed her family,” she added. “My great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family. I know it’s hard out there.”

This didn’t sit well with many fans who pointed out just how privileged Goldberg is as a multi-millionaire.

Goldberg’s Past Controversies

This is also far from the first time that Goldberg has caused trouble for ABC. Back in 2022, she was suspended for two weeks after claiming that the Holocaust, in which around six million Jews were killed by the Nazis, was “not about race.”

Relive that cringeworthy and offensive moment for yourself in the video below.

Back in June of this year, Goldberg stirred up more controversy when she seemingly claimed that being black in America is worse than being a woman in Iran. She made this claim despite Iran being under a brutal dictatorship.

Watch Goldberg’s full comments on that in the video below.

After Goldberg’s latest ridiculous remarks about her finances, it’s no wonder that ABC executives may have finally had enough of her. Only time will tell how much longer Goldberg will be able to last on The View!
