Earlier this month, we reported that the pop star Taylor Swift was confused and a bit humbled when she was loudly booed during the Super Bowl.
It seems that the backlash may not be over, as she has lost a considerable number of her Instagram followers in the days since.
Swift Loses Tons Of Followers
Swift, 35, has reportedly lost almost 150,000 Instagram followers in the two weeks since she was booed at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on February 9. Since the big game, Swift has dropped a total of 144,200 followers.
It’s hard to say these days – that’s a vanishingly small segment of her remaining 94 million followers, and yet, consider that 150,000 people is an enormous number of people.
That’s larger than the population of Savannah, Georgia, Gainesville, Florida, and Syracuse, New York.
On the other hand, 94 million far larger than the most populated city in the world, Guangzhou, China, which boasts a population of 70 million.
Swift had been attending the Super Bowl to support her Kansas City Chiefs tight end boyfriend Travis Kelce as his team took on the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately for Swift, Kelce, and Chiefs fans everywhere, they lost handily by a score of 40-22.
At one point, Swift’s face was shown on the jumbotron at Caesars Superdome. As soon as her face came up, the stadium erupted into extremely loud boos. Swift looked visibly confused and uncomfortable as the boos continued.
Lipreader Nicola Hickling later told Daily Mail that Swift turned to her friend sitting next to her and desperately asked, “aww what, what’s going on?!”

Kelce Felt ‘Helpless’
Kelce, 35, was left feeling “helpless” as he listened to the stadium booing his girlfriend.
“Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless,” a source said afterwards. “Seeing the look on her face got to him.”
“He always protects her and it broke his heart,” the insider continued. “He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn’t help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.”
It seems that Eagles fans have a grudge against Swift, who was born in Pennsylvania. The boos may have stemmed from Eagles fans viewing Swift’s support for Kelce and the Chiefs as a betrayal of sorts.
“It’s clear to many that the Eagles fans feel she is a traitor of sorts – being from Pennsylvania and even wearing Eagles gear prior to dating him,” the source explained.
Judging by how many social media followers Swift has lost, however, it seems that Eagles fans aren’t the only ones who thought Swift deserved her booing.

Swift And Kelce Take A Step Back
In the wake of this difficult Super Bowl experience, Swift and Kelce have decided to take a step back. Another source close to the couple told People Magazine that in the wake of Swift being booed, she and Kelce have decided to “have a break together.”
“Their lives have been a whirlwind since they first started dating,” this source said. “Things seem great between them, and they’re incredibly happy together.”
Despite the humiliation of being booed, Swift will likely still attend Kelce’s NFL games, should he play another season.
“She truly loves watching Travis play,” the insider concluded of Swift.
As if being booed was not enough, Swift is now having to deal with fallout on social media for it. In the end, it’s likely that this February has been one month that Swift would like to forget!
