The country music star Shania Twain is one of the best-selling female country music artist of all-time, with over 100 million records sold. In a new interview, she’s speaking out to indicate that she’s ready to see some change in country music, and she is a fan of the “evolution” of the genre that is currently happening.
Twain ‘Excited’ About ‘Evolution Of Country Music’
Just before hosting the People’s Choice Country Awards last week, Twain said that she feels “privileged” to witness this new era of country music.
“I’m also privileged to be a part of where the new country is going,” Twain, 59, told Fox News. “I don’t want to say new country, but the evolution of country music and where it’s headed.”
Twain went on to say that as she prepared to host the awards show, she was “excited” to meet some of the new country music stars.
“I love music, I’m a fan of music,” she gushed. “I think the love of it keeps me going.”
Indeed, hosting the People’s Choice Country Awards meant the world to Twain.
“It’s a really full-circle experience for me,” she told Billboard days before the show. “It takes me back to my own beginnings in Nashville and as a new recording artist there, and obviously the historic location is always appealing. I meet new artists, and I’m running into old friends, making new friends.”
“I’m here more as a fan than anything,” she added. “It’s the artists that the people want to hear and see, so to me, that is everything. I’ll be smack dab in the middle of it all, so I’m super excited. I’m all access.”

Twain Addresses Aging
Twain will be turning 60 next year, but she has still maintained a youthful look. She said that there is “no secret” to staying fit as she prepares for this landmark birthday.
“I enjoy good health and I think happiness has everything to do with it,” she explained.
Earlier this year, Twain revealed that she often looks at herself naked in the mirror to help her accept the aging process.
“I decided that wherever there was a mirror, and I was naked in my house or hotel, that I would keep the lights on, and I would look in the mirror,” Twain told The Sun back in May.
“A lot of people as they start aging – and even young people – they don’t want to look at themselves in the mirror naked, and I think that is such a shame,” she added at the time.
Unlike many other celebrities, Twain is no longer afraid of seeing “another sag” or cellulite.
“Every month or day that I may notice another sag or another bit of cellulite, I want to know it’s there,” she explained. “I want to be OK with it instead of thinking I have to cover it up or not to look. I can’t change it and I don’t plan on changing it superficially.”

Twain Has Some Big Plans
Though Twain is preparing to end her Las Vegas residency in early 2025, she has assured her fans that there will be plenty more to come from her.
“I’ll be very, very busy for the next few years,” Twain said last week. “I’m doing more acting. I’ll be in the studio making a new album. I’m writing music for various things and there’s a musical in the works with my music, so lots of exciting things. I’ll be busy doing more of a variety of things than I’ve ever done before in my career, so that’ll keep me off the Vegas stage for a while.”
Twain is a true icon, and there is no other country music performer quite like her. It will certainly be interesting to see what she has in store for us as country music continues to evolve in the years to come!
