Savannah Guthrie returned to the TODAY show last month on Monday, April 6. This came two months after her mother Nancy Guthrie, 84, was kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona. Sadly, Nancy remains missing, and the search for her continues.
Now, insiders are claiming that Nancy’s friends from church have been told to stay quiet as the investigation into her disappearance continues.
Nancy’s Friends Told To Stay Silent
“We’ve heard from several that the Guthrie family has asked Nancy’s close friends to keep things private right now,” News Nations’ Brian Entin told Parade. “You haven’t seen a lot of her close friends come forward and talk about her, which is different than other cases.”
Entin went on to say that there is still significant unease surrounding Nancy’s case. This is particularly true among residents in the Tucson area.
“I also think people here are still nervous about the whole thing,” Entin continued. “For us covering it, we live in different states, but people who live here in Tucson, especially in the neighborhood, these kinds of things don’t happen, and the fact that there’s no new information and they have no idea who did it, I think people are just still nervous about the whole thing, which might be why you don’t see as many people talking about it.”
Entin concluded by saying that those connected to the case have varied in their willingness to speak publicly.
“It’s been interesting to see who wants to talk and who doesn’t,” Entin stated. He added that it was Nancy’s church friends who were the first to report her missing. “No one has said anything.”
Entin is about to host the television special NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery. It is set to air on the CW on Wednesday, May 6. Entin tried to get in contact with Nancy’s church friends for this special. However, he was unsuccessful in getting any of them to speak with him.
Nancy’s Disappearance
Nancy was last seen on the night of Saturday, January 31. That evening, she had dinner with her daughter Annie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni. They dropped her off at her home afterwards at around 9:45pm, and she tragically hasn’t been seen since.
A masked intruder was captured on Nancy’s doorbell ring camera in the early hours of February 1. He managed to cover the camera with some plants before moving forward with the kidnapping.
It has since been revealed that the masked man had been seen in the doorbell ring camera prior to the night Nancy was taken. This indicates that he may have been casing out her home.
The Guthrie family is offering a $1 million reward for information that leads to Nancy’s return. Anyone who has any information about Nancy’s whereabouts or who might be responsible for her disappearance has been asked to call the FBI (1-800-CALL-FBI).
This has clearly been a nightmarishly difficult time for Savannah and her entire family. Please join us in saying a prayer for the return of Nancy Guthrie.
