We previously reported that the country music star Reba McEntire is engaged to her Happy’s Place co-star Rex Linn. Now, McEntire is speaking out to say that she’s so in love that she feels “like a teenager.”
McEntire Feels ‘Like A Teenager’
Linn, 68, proposed to McEntire, 70, on Christmas Eve in 2024. However, it wasn’t until September of this year that they went public with their engagement.
When Linn proposed, he got on one knee and presented McEntire with a beautiful ring surrounded by black diamonds.
“It sparkles all the time, and it doesn’t matter that I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned it,” McEntire gushed to USA Today. “I’m having a blast. I feel like a teenager again. It’s just a wonderful time.”
“I’m 70 years old, 50 years in the business, and I’m happier now than I’ve ever been in my life,” she continued. “God saved the best for last.”
McEntire and Linn initially met on the set of their 1991 TV movie The Gambler Returns. However, sparks didn’t fly between the pair until 30 years later, when McEntire booked a guest spot on Linn’s show Young Sheldon. The pair began dating in 2020, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
Linn’s Proposal
Linn had actually taken the ring with him on an African safari they embarked on in June of 2024.
“But the opportunity never presented itself,” McEntire explained. “He brought (the ring) back home.”
Finally, in December of last year, Linn found the perfect location to propose near a favorite creek on their 130-acre ranch, 40 miles outside Nashville. There, he shocked McEntire by dropping to his knee during a walk on Christmas Eve.
“I said, ‘What are you doing?’ and he said, ‘Would you marry me? I want to cross the finish line with you,'” McEntire recalled.
Completely stunned, McEntire only hugged Linn’s head, not saying anything at first.
“He said, ‘You’re not saying anything!'” she added. “And I finally said, ‘Well, yes! YES!’ He thought he was going to have to jump into the creek.”
Linn chimed in to say that McEntire’s pause after his proposal was “about 21 seconds. And even a five-second pause feels like an hour.”
“I thought, if she doesn’t say ‘yes,’ I’ll just disappear into that creek,” Linn admitted. “But then she said ‘yes’ three times.”

Happy’s Place
McEntire and Linn are preparing for the premiere of season two of their sitcom Happy’s Place. It premieres on Friday night at 8pm on NBC.
McEntire and Linn have loved working together on the show. They commute to and from work together in Los Angeles. The couple also enjoys rehearsing together late into the night from home.
“We’re great rehearsal partners. We’ll go to bed with our scripts and wake with them,” said McEntire. “But many mornings we sit out back and watch the hummingbirds while having coffee.”
McEntire and Linn’s morning ritual always includes Coffee Camp. Whether it’s in person or via Zoom, they always start the day by having coffee together.
“In the morning, when I’m shuffling down the hall to get Coffee Camp, Rex will say, ‘You’re the prettiest woman in the world,'” McEntire stated. “And I’ll say, ‘OK, put your glasses back on.'”
After two marriages and divorces, McEntire is finally “happy and content.”
“I’m hearing from people I haven’t heard from in years, going, ‘Gosh, you’ve given me hope. Maybe there is someone out there for me,'” McEntire concluded. “Everybody wants to see people in love and happy.”
It’s so nice to see McEntire find love later in life. We’d like to wish both her and Linn many years of happiness together to come!
