In September of last year, we reported that the country music star Reba McEntire had gotten engaged to her Happy’s Place co-star Rex Linn. They had actually become engaged on Christmas Eve in 2024, yet they waited nearly a year to announce the engagement to fans.
Now, however, it seems that there might be some trouble in paradise. Indeed, insiders are speaking out to claim that McEntire is dragging her feet about actually walking down the aisle.
McEntire May Have Cold Feet
McEntire, 70, and Linn, 69, have been together for six years. Despite this, sources close to McEntire are claiming that she’s in no rush to get married again. Though McEntire has attempted to cite their busy work schedules filming their NBC sitcom Happy’s Place as the reason for their delayed nuptials, insiders are claiming that she actually has developed cold feet.
“Reba’s excuse about work getting in the way makes zero sense,” an insider told Radar Online. “It’s a crazy U-turn, since she was so excited to become a bride and talking about nothing else over the holidays.”
“She even said the wedding doesn’t need to be a big ceremony,” the source added. “That she and Rex would be just fine eloping if they were too busy for something fancy and throw a bigger celebration down the line.”
McEntire Attempts To Blame Work
McEntire has said that she and Linn’s number one rule is that work always comes first. According to her, they’re waiting on a third season of Happy’s Place at the moment. Linn is also preparing to star alongside Owen Wilson on the Apple TV sports sitcom Stick.
McEntire can blame work for her wedding delays all that she wants to. According to those close to her, however, her poor marriage track record is the actual problem here.
While Linn has never been married before, McEntire has been married and divorced twice.
McEntire was first married to steer-wrestling champ Charlie Battles from 1976 until 1987. She was then married to the music manager Narvel Blackstock from 1989 until 2015. These marriage failures have seemingly left McEntire feeling gunshy about walking down the aisle again.
“Once again, it seems Reba’s commitment phobia has sunk in,” said the source. “She’s saying there’s far too much work for them both to focus on. And maybe it’s for the best that they take a rain check and go back to the way they were before the engagement.”
Linn Struggles With McEntire’s Reluctance
As for Linn, he’s reportedly had a tough time with McEntire’s delays. Indeed, he is reportedly eager to marry her and make things official.
“It’s a bitter pill for Rex to swallow,” the insider confessed. “The poor guy was kept dangling for so long before she finally accepted his proposal and even after that Reba kept the news secret for at least a year before they went public with it.”
“Unsurprisingly he’s feeling confused and insecure about Reba’s ultimate motives and nobody’s blaming him,” the source concluded. “The way things are going, Rex could easily decide to walk.”
If McEntire really wants to keep Linn, it seems that she’s going to need to get over her committment fears sooner rather than later. Only time will tell if McEntire and Linn ever actually make it down the aisle!
