Over the past few months, fears have grown for the health of the culinary TV star Rachael Ray after she made a series of bizarre public appearances. Now, Ray is speaking out to reveal her secret to staying married for 20 years to her husband John Cusimano as these concerns continue to escalate.
Ray Celebrates 20th Wedding Anniversary
Ray, 57, and Cusimano, 58, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last month. Indeed, they got married in in a castle in Tuscany, Italy on September 24, 2005. They later renewed their vows at this same castle ten years later.
While hosting Blue Moon Burger Bash 2.0 at the New York City Wine & Food Festival last week, Ray told People Magazine that they opted to celebrate their 20th anniversary “in a very tiny way.”
“For our first 10, 15 years, I cooked for 60 to 70 people every single year,” Ray said. “And we would fly them over. It was a huge, big deal. My husband said, ‘This year,’ he said, ‘Honey, it’s our 20th. Can we just be quiet?’”
“So we spent two nights in Florence with friends, and two nights in Rome with friends, people that we know and restaurants that we love,” she continued. “It was very quiet. It was wonderful.”
Ray’s Secret To Marriage Success
Ray went on to reveal her secret to staying married for twenty years.
“Take life very seriously; don’t take yourself seriously,” she advised. “Have a sense of humor. And if you’re pissed off about something, say it. Get it out of your system, and then shut up and never say it again.
“We’re very simple,” Ray confessed. “He can work alone all day in his studio. I can work alone all day in the kitchen or on my computer or drawing pictures or reading. We can both be alone, but we’re never alone together. We forgive each other, we like each other, and we tolerate each other. And that’s really it. You find the right one, and then that’s what you do.”
On her actual wedding anniversary, Ray took to Instagram to gush over her husband.
“For you, I’ll always pay the toll. Two decades, one kitchen, and the right recipe all along,” she wrote. “I couldn’t let the day get away before saying Happy 20th anniversary to us! Our marriage has been the ultimate dinner party, always full of laughter, flavor and a little bit of spice.”
“Happy anniversary my love!” Ray concluded. “Here’s to many more!”
Fears For Ray’s Health
This comes amidst major fears for Ray’s health. Those fears began in September of last year, when Ray took to Instagram to post a bizarre video honoring the late singer Tony Bennett.
Fans responded by saying that Ray was “slurring” her speech in the video. Some questioned if she was drunk, while others thought she might be on a medication or suffering from a major health condition.
“Is she slurring or am I slurring,” one fan commented. Another added, “I love you but are you ok? I’m seriously concerned.”
“Rachel is in a bit of trouble?! I hope someone is just as concerned as I am?” a third fan wrote. A fourth person questioned, “What the heck is wrong with her? Messy hair, slurring words….wow just wow …”

Ray’s Loved Ones Are ‘Concerned’ For Her
This also comes after an insider told Daily Mail that Ray “has not had the easiest time” since her eponymous talk show ended in 2023. The source added that The Rachel Ray Show was Ray’s “pride and joy, and it was her life for so many years.”
Things have gotten so bad for Ray that her family and friends have reportedly become concerned about her wellbeing.
“Those close to Rachael are so concerned,” another insider alleged. “She has shut people out and lives a very secluded life.”
“She seems lost and when anyone reaches out to her she doesn’t respond,” this source continued. “Rachael was always so meticulous about her appearance, and it is very telling and concerning that she now just doesn’t care. It is indicative of a bigger issue.”
Ray herself has yet to comment on these health concerns. Whether she’s secretly struggling with a health problem or not, it seems that her marriage is at least going strong. We’d like to wish Ray and Cusimano many years of happiness together to come!
