Prince William reportedly went “ballistic” when he found out how his sister-in-law Meghan Markle was allegedly bullying her royal staffers, according to a new book.
Meghan And Harry Allegedly Mistreated Royal Staffers
These shocking allegations were revealed in Robert Lacey’s bestselling novel Battle of Brothers, which details the estrangement between William and his younger brother Prince Harry, who has been married to Meghan since 2018.
Sources told Lacey that concerns about the way Meghan was treating royal staffers began as early as 2017. One Kensington Palace insider alleged that Meghan would often begin firing off emails as early as 5am. This would leave staffers with a “barrage” of emails in their inboxes by the time that they signed on for the day.
The source went on to allege that Meghan and Harry reigned over a “really toxic environment.” This left staffers shaking before meetings with Meghan. One former staffer even claimed to have been left with PTSD after working for Meghan.
When Meghan learned of these complaints from a senior aide, she reportedly brushed them off by saying “it’s not my job to coddle people.”
William Goes ‘Ballistic’
William, however, was not having any of this. When senior royal aide Jason Knauf handed William a “dossier of distress” about Meghan and Harry’s alleged behavior towards their staffers, the heir to the throne went “ballistic.” Indeed, William was reportedly both “astonished” and “horrified” by what Meghan and Harry had allegedly done.
Lacey explained that William’s anger stemmed from the royal family’s long history of treating their staffers “like family.” This meant that William personally knew many of the staffers who were allegedly mistreated by his brother and sister-in-law.
After reading the dossier, William called his brother on the phone. On this call, Harry allegedly “flared up in a fierce defense of his wife.”
“The moment the Prince heard the bullying allegations he got straight on the phone to talk to Harry – and when Harry flared up in furious defense of his wife, the elder brother persisted,” Lacey wrote. “Harry shut off his phone angrily, so William went straight round to find his brother on the Kensington campus.”
Allegations of Meghan mistreating royal staffers continued until she and Harry stepped down as senior royals in January of 2020. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised. Even to this day, Meghan is still often accused of mistreating her staffers as she desperately tries rebrand herself as a lifestyle guru.

Earlier this year, a source who worked for Meghan on various media projects after her royal exit told Vanity Fair that working for the wife of Prince Harry was “really, really, really awful. Very painful.”
“Because she’s constantly playing checkers — I’m not even going to say chess — but she’s just very aware of where everybody is on her board,” this unnamed source alleged. “And when you are not in, you are to be thrown to the wolves at any given moment.”
The staffer went on to say that Meghan was often “undermining” her employees.
“It’s talking behind your back. It’s gnawing at your sense of self. Really, like, ‘Mean Girls’ teenager,” the source claimed.
William and Harry have not been seen together publicly since their grandmother Queen Elizabeth died in September of 2022. However, they are known to have both attended the private funeral for their uncle Robert Fellowes last summer. Despite this, they are firmly estranged, and William is said to be “done” with Harry and his wife.
In the end, it certainly doesn’t look like a royal reconciliation will be happening anytime soon. Only time will tell if William will ever forgive Meghan and Harry for what they have done!
