Earlier this week, we reported that Prince Harry is desperate to reconcile with the British royal family. Now, a royal expert is speaking out to claim that Harry and his wife Meghan Markle would “consider” returning to their royal duties.
Harry Never Wanted To Surrender His Royal Duties
Royal expert Kristen Meinzer is claiming that Harry, 40, never wanted to completely surrender his senior royal duties. According to her, that’s why he’d consider returning to the United Kingdom, even on a part-time basis.
“Harry has repeatedly said that it was never his intention to completely surrender his senior royal duties,” Meinzer told The Daily Express. “In a perfect world, he and Meghan would have been able to do what Edward and Sophie did early on in their marriage – pursue their own passions while also serving the crown.”
This was a reference to Prince Edward, the youngest son of the late Queen Elizabeth, and his wife Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. While the Queen allowed Edward and Sophie to be half in, half out, she declined to allow Harry and Meghan to do this.
“But the Queen did not grant Harry and Meghan the same opportunity, nor did the institution treat the racism Meghan faced with the seriousness it warranted,” Meinzer explained. “But Charles is not his mother. And if he arranged for their duties to have both some flexibility and a great deal of safety, I think Harry and Meghan would certainly consider accepting the opportunity.”
Harry ‘Would Love To Return’ To England
Since stepping down as senior royals in January of 2020, Harry and Meghan, 44, have moved across the world to Southern California. There, they have built a life with their children Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4. Despite this, Meinzer believes that a return to the U.K. may be in the cards for Harry.
“I think Harry would love to return to the U.K., at least part-time,” Meinzer continuied. He wants to spend time with his U.K. friends and family. He wants his wife and children to know and love his homeland. That’s why he’s been trying so hard to reinstate the security that Charles took away. He wants to spend time there, but he wants to do so safely.”
It’s been claimed that King Charles, 76, has been holding Frogmore Cottage for Harry and Meghan in case they return. Indeed, the couple had been living there before they stepped down as senior royals.
“Considering they renovated Frogmore Cottage to their specifications, paid for all the renovations out of their own pockets, and signed a multi-year lease on the property, I think it’s safe to say that it was always their hope to make the Cottage their U.K.,” Meinzer added.
“Of course, we know that Charles terminated that lease, with the plan of putting [Prince] Andrew there, but he’s never followed through on that plan,” she stated. “So I do hope it would someday be Harry and Meghan’s, should they want it.”
Other Royal Experts Weigh In
Harry and Meghan have spent much of the past five years relentlessly bashing the royal family in books, interviews, and documentaries. That’s why other royal experts have said that it’s unlikely that the royals will ever be able to trust Harry and Meghan again.
“Prince Harry wears his heart on his sleeve,” royal expert Helena Chard told Fox News this week. “Sources have stated that he seems bereft, lonely and lacking direction… It’s a big shame that he cannot rekindle a private relationship with his father or spark peace talks behind closed doors. However, at this point, it’s understandable why the royal family will not touch him with a barge pole.”
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich chimed in to express her belief that Harry is currently immersing himself in charity work like never before because he has hit “rock bottom.”
“This is a move more out of necessity and hope for reconciliation, but how is the family ever to trust him or his motives?” she questioned. “There are such deep-seated grievances from all his sordid revelations, one doubts they can ever be overcome.”
Only time will tell if Harry and Meghan actually ever return to royal duties. It will certainly be interesting to see how this turns out for them!
