Jocelyn Wildenstein, the famous socialite who was known as “Catwoman” because of the many plastic surgery procedures that she underwent, died on New Year’s Eve at the age of 84. Now, Wildenstein’s longtime partner Lloyd Klein, 57, is opening up about her final moments.
Wildenstein Dies In Her Sleep
According to Klein, Wildenstein “died in her sleep very peacefully” while taking a nap.
Surely, there is no better way to go when our time is called.
“We had a nice happy hour the same night and we were getting ready for the new year, and we took a little nap just to look good before getting dressed,” Klein told People Magazine.
Klein believes that Wildenstein’s cause of death was phlebitis. This condition is the inflammation of a vein that may be caused by damage to the vein wall or by a blood clot that blocks a vein, according to Healthline. Her official cause of death was listed as a pulmonary embolism.
“Because of her phlebitis, the legs were very, very swollen, and the blood was blocked, and there was no oxygen in the brain,” Klein said. “And we were having a nap and when I wake up, I said, ‘Jocelyn, we have to wake up, we have to get dressed,’ and she was cold and she was dead.”
“It’s very sad, it’s extremely sad,” he continued. “It’s extremely sad to lay down with your other half that I know for 21 years and waiting to celebrate New Year’s Eve and to find her cold.”

Wildenstein’s ‘Perfect’ Final Days
Despite this condition, Wildenstein’s health was “perfect” in her final days, according to Klein. Indeed, the Swiss socialite didn’t let her phlebitis get in the way of her holiday plans.
“We were at the Ritz two days ago. We were having dinner,” Klein recalled. “Before that, we had come for Fashion Week at Chanel. Everything was good, everything was good. We were having parties. She was in great shape. She was in impeccable health.”
During her time at what turned out to be her final Fashion Week, Wildenstein was “very happy” and “at the top of her game.” While Klein misses her dearly, he’s glad that she went out on a high note.
“Two months ago, she attended the Chanel show. Everyone invited us to dinner,” Klein concluded. “Everyone welcomed her with red carpet. Paparazzi were following us. It was the return to Paris. We were at the top of our game. Everything was at the top.”

Wildenstein’s History
Wildenstein and Klein had an on-again, off-again romance that began back in 2003. They became engaged in 2017, though they never officially married.
Wildenstein was previously married to Alec N. Wildenstein, with whom she shared two children. She became a billionaire after they went through a contentious divorce in 1999.
Though she was known for her extensive plastic surgery procedures, Wildenstein bizarrely claimed one month before her death that she’d never had any work done. She alleged that she’d never gotten fillers, and had only gotten Botox two times.
Needless to say, this was difficult for the public to believe.
Whether you liked her or not, it can’t be denied that Wildenstein was a truly unique person. Rest in peace, Jocelyn Wildenstein!
