Earlier this month, we reported that Netflix had finally cut ties with Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry. This comes after multiple projects of hers flopped for the streaming service.
Now, a friend of Meghan’s is claiming that the former Suits star is desperate to return to acting in the wake of this massive Netflix fail.
Meghan ‘Will Come Back’ To Acting
The veteran Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts, the older brother of the legendary Julia Roberts, is speaking out to claim that Meghan is planning a Hollywood comeback that will “blow everybody’s mind.”
“She will come back,” Eric, 69, told Daily Mail while walking the red carpet at a charity event last week. He was joined by his wife Eliza, who is a casting director and manager.
“It is time,” Eliza said in agreement. “And Meghan needs to come back to work. I feel like her whole family will support it, and she is amazing.”
Eric spent years playing the shady billionaire Charles Forstman on Suits. During that time, he developed a close friendship with Meghan, 44.
Eliza claimed that Meghan only left Suits in 2018 because the royal family had concerns over her “‘very sexy” screen character, paralegal Rachel Zane.
“It is tricky because of the monarchy. Her role in Suits was very sexy,” Eliza explained. “Her making love with another man, that was just – they’ve never seen anything like that.”
“She worked so hard to get there. That was just too much,” Eliza continued. “Women don’t give up their jobs for a marriage anymore. I understand the intention, and she thought she’d be satisfied with doing good works in the world. But she needs to be acting. She is a young woman who needs to be acting.”
‘Meghan Is A Star…’
“Meghan is a star,” Eliza insisted. “From the second you see her, she just has star quality. It doesn’t matter. It was always going to happen.”
As for Eric, he’s convinced that Meghan will successfully come back to acting.
“I think she should come back. I think she will come back,” he emphatically stated. “And I think she’s going to be fantastic and blow everybody’s mind.”
Eric went on to describe Meghan as being a “really cool person, really easy, laid back, kind, smart.”
“She’s a good mom. She is a caring, loving, kind mom. That’s all you need to know about somebody,” Eliza chimed back in to add. “And same with him.”
Eric and Eliza concluded by claiming that Harry, 41, would support his wife in her return to acting.
Meghan’s Netflix Fail
This comes after Meghan’s massive deal with Netflix collapsed. Indeed, Netflix has reportedly cut ties with Meghan after she had multiple flops for the streaming service.
This was a crushing blow for Meghan, as she had been hoping to continue teaming up with Netflix to sell products for her As Ever brand. However, this comes two months after Netflix canceled Meghan’s lifestyle show With Love, Meghan, which was widely panned by critics and fans alike.
“Her show did not go on so it did not make sense to continue the partnership,” an industry source exclusively told Page Six.
In August of 2025, Netflix announced that it would not be renewing Meghan and Harry’s $100 million contract. Instead, Netflix gave them a “multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects.” This “downgrade” is the same one that Netflix gave to Barack and Michelle Obama.
“In practice, it is a downgrade from the 2020 overall deal that birthed Harry & Meghan, Polo and With Love, Meghan, among other projects,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.
“The overall-to-first-look extension mirrors the move Netflix made recently with the Obamas — as well as others — for their Higher Ground banner,” the publication continued. “In both cases, the exclusivity carried by their respective, splashy original deals has been removed.”
Meghan Left Humiliated
While Meghan has tried to spin this in a positive light, experts have emphatically stated that it’s a major downgrade.
“They have shot the golden goose of 2020. More of a ‘we’ll call you’ than ‘here’s the checkbook,'” leading publicist Mark Borkowski told Daily Mail. “It’s a first-look deal, which means Netflix gets first dibs but no obligation to bankroll every semi-royal whim.”
“I reckon Netflix is trimming fat industry-wide, so this is less carte blanche, more curated cameo,” he added. “They’re still in business together. Meghan’s As ever brand and seasonal specials keep them in the Netflix shop window. But make no mistake, this is a slimmed-down sequel to the blockbuster original. So Harry and Meghan’s new Netflix chapter is less champagne budget, more Prosecco by the glass.”
Before her 2018 marriage to Harry, Meghan spent years desperately trying to make it in the entertainment industry. Though she was eventually cast in Suits, Meghan never achieved the A-list level of fame that she so-clearly craved until she married into it. That has to make Meghan’s fails with Netflix all the more humiliating for her.
Meghan has previously shut down the prospect of returning to acting. When asked in 2022 if she would ever consider returning to acting again, Meghan told Variety, “I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”
In the years since then, however, it seems that Meghan has changed her tune. With her Netflix deal dead in the water, returning to acting might be the only way that Meghan can stay in the entertainment world. Only time will tell if Meghan’s Hollywood comeback will be successful, or if this will be yet another fail for her!
