That’s why we’ve decided to take a look at the top ten richest British royals. Scroll through below and see if your favorite made the list!
Prince William – $100 Million
Prince William, the heir to the British throne, has an estimated net worth of $100 million. He began amassing his fortune with money left to him by his mother Princess Diana after she died in 1997. William was then left more money by the Queen Mother, his great-grandmother, upon her death in 2002.
After the Queen’s death in 2022, William was granted the Duchy of Cornwall. This provides him with an annual income of $7.5 million.
On top of all that, William owns many high-value assets, most notably grand Anmer Hall in Norfolk. Since William is set to be king someday, he can certainly expect his net worth to increase in the years to come!
Prince Harry – $60 Million
Prince Harry may no longer be a working royal. However, his net worth has dramatically increased since he moved to the U.S. in 2020.
Prior to leaving the royal family, Harry’s fortune mostly consisted of the estimated $12.7 million that was left to him by his mother Diana, and the $17.8 million trust that was left to him by his great-grandmother the Queen Mother.
Since stepping down as a senior royal, however, Harry has amassed quite a lot of money from a multi-million book deal, a massive deal with Netflix, and various other projects. These days, he’s worth an estimated $60 million.
Prince Michael Of Kent – $40 Million
Prince Michael of Kent is the 82 year-old cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth. After a lengthy career in the military, Michael launched a business career that was highly lucrative. It was this career that allowed him to amass an estimated net worth of $40 million, making him one of the wealthiest British royals.
Michael has been seen as controversial at times, however. Back in 2002, he was slammed when it was revealed that despite being non-working royals, he and his wife were paying a very small amount of rent for their lavish Kensington Palace apartment. They quickly backed down and agreed to pay the market rate.
Then in 2021, Michael once again came under fire for alleged close ties to the Russian government. Since then, he’s kept somewhat of a low profile.
Zara Tindall – $20 Million
Zara Tindall is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth. She is also a non-working royal, which has allowed her to pursue a successful career as an Olympic medal-winning equestrian.
Through her success in this sport, Zara has been able to score big-money sponsorship deals and endorsements. This has allowed her to amass an estimated net worth of $20 million.
Zara is married to the former international rugby player Mike Tindall, who also has an estimated net worth of $20 million. Most recently, he earned an estimated $378,000 (£300k) from a UK Domino’s Pizza ad that he starred in alongside his former teammate James Haskell.
Princess Anne – $10 Million
Next up is Zara’s mother, Princess Anne!
The only daughter of Queen Elizabeth, Anne has long been seen as one of the hardest-working royals. For her decades of devotion to her royal duties, Anne has received $21 million over the years.
On top of that, Anne has some big assets to her name. She has a legendary jewelry collection that is undoubtedly worth millions. Anne also owns the iconic Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire. The late Queen bought her this estate as a wedding gift in 1976.
Prince Edward – $10 Million
Prince Edward is the youngest son of the late Queen. In an unusual move for a working royal, Edward once held a private-sector job as the head of his own TV production company. However, he stepped down in 2002 after he was accused of attempting to cash in on his royal status.
During the years that they’ve been working royals, Edward and his wife Sophie have received an estimated $8.2 million (£6.5m) from the Sovereign Grant. Sophie also once worked outside of the royal family in PR. Her career collapsed in 2001 after she was caught making negative comments about members of the royal household in a newspaper sting.
In the decades since then, Edward and Sophie have managed to avoid controversy. They are now seen as reliable working royals, and Edward’s net worth is estimated to be $10 million.
Kate Middleton – $10 Million
Kate Middleton was technically a commoner when she married Prince William back in 2011. However, she comes from an extremely wealthy family, so she was no pauper!
While it’s never been confirmed, Kate is believed to be the recipient of a trust fund that was set up by the Middleton family. She’s also garnered some major assets that include her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s engagement ring and a designer wardrobe that is worth over $1 million.
Kate has put together a net worth that is estimated to be $10 million. You might recall that her husband is worth an estimated $100 million. Since Kate’s marriage to William appears to be a strong one, it’s likely that she won’t be hurting for money anytime soon!
Prince Andrew – $5 Million
Prince Andrew is the third of the late Queen’s four children. Sadly, he is unquestionably her most controversial offspring.
Andrew was sacked as a working royal after his infamous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview. This occurred amidst the fallout over Andrew’s alleged close ties to the disgraced former billionaire and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
In 2022, Andrew paid the Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre an estimated $15.1 million to settle accusations that he sexually assaulted her.
Now no longer a working royal, it is believed that Andrew’s income streams have dried up. His only source of income these days is believed to be a modest Navy pension. Nevertheless, Andrew still has an estimated net worth of $5 million.
Prince George – $500,000
Prince George may only be 11 years-old, but he’s already doing quite well for himself!
The little boy who is currently third in line for the British throne has a current net worth that is estimated to be $500,000. Since he’s set to be king someday, however, George will undoubtedly get a whole lot richer as his life goes on thanks to gifts and inheritances.
George is destined to have a steadied income from the lucrative Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster. This is the royal property empires that generate millions of pounds every year for the Monarch and the male heir.
On top of that, it’s been estimated that George’s value to the British economy is $3 billion. It will certainly be interesting to see where life takes him!
King Charles – $774 Million
It should come as no surprise that the wealthiest British royal is King Charles himself. Indeed, he was left the bulk of Queen Elizabeth’s estate completely tax-free after she passed away two years ago.
This estate included palaces, castles, and estates worth $415 million. It also included world-class art, car and stamp collections, extravagant jewels, cash courtesy of the Duchy of Lancaster, and more.
Some analysis has Charles worth at as much as $2.3 billion. However, it is believed that the number is actually a bit lower at $774 million.
Must be nice!
