The Hollywood star Kevin Costner of Yellowstone fame could be seen sitting next to the iconic singer Cher at the SNL 50 anniversary special on Sunday.
The famous duo’s seating arrangement is notable in that just two nights earlier, Costner was left awestruck by Cher’s performance at SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
Looks like he got the best seat in the house!
Costner Awed By Cher’s Performance
At the SNL concert, Cher, 78, performed her hit song “If I Can Turn Back Time” at Radio City Music Hall – a fitting choice considering the occassion. During the performance, Costner could be seen standing up and clutching his head with his hands as he enjoyed her music.
“Kevin Costner .. was feeling it,” a fan wrote on Instagram alongside a video of Costner’s reaction.
“I think Kevin Costner is in love,” a second fan commented. A third wrote, “Kevin Costner was all of us.”

Cher’s Much Younger Boyfriend
Costner is currently single, as his divorce from his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner was finalized last year. If he’s interested in dating Cher, however, it appears that he’s out of luck. Indeed, Cher is off the market, as she has been dating her boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards since 2022. Despite their nearly 40 year age gap, they appear to be very much in love.
Cher previously told The New York Post that she “wasn’t looking” for love when she met Edwards at Paris Fashion Week.
“We met because my friend kept nudging me to go ask him about his teeth,” Cher recalled. “So I’m looking at this beautiful guy with white hair, tatted up and with these teeth. And so I said, ‘Dude, I like your grill.’ And, he went, ‘No, they’re my teeth,’ and so we just talked for a second.”
Cher went on to say that when she began spending time with Edwards, she told him, “Dude, this is not gonna work out. I’m telling you, it’s not gonna go good. It’s just not gonna work.’”
It seems despite the age gap, she at least has the lingo down.
Despite this warning, Edwards “just wasn’t going for it,” according to Cher. They became an official couple soon thereafter.
Costner’s Bitter Divorce
Meanwhile, Costner and Baumgartner split in 2023 after 19 years of marriage and three children together. A bitter divorce battle ensued, and it was finalized last year.
Last month, we reported that Baumgartner had become engaged to Josh Connor, a former friend and neighbor of Costner’s. This understandably left Costner feeling devastated. Making matters even worse, Costner had to hear the news of the engagement from his children instead of from Baumgartner herself.
“Kevin said he felt sucker-punched when his kids told him about the marriage proposal,” a source told Daily Mail.
“He said he would have preferred to have heard it straight from Christine, but either way, it still feels like betrayal even after all this time,” the insider continued. “He just celebrated his birthday, thank God they waited at least a week to make the announcement.”

As he dealt with this engagement, Costner planned to focus on the future.
“Kevin will do what he always does and that’s focus on his kids and his work,” the source explained. “He’s premiering Horizon 2 at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, his docuseries is coming out soon and he’s got his music.”
Costner is likely wishing he could “turn back time” right now and stop his ex from dating his former friend. After all that he’s been through over the past few weeks, we’re glad to see that Costner appears to have had some fun with Cher over the weekend. Should Cher ever be single again, it would certainly be interesting if she and Costner got together!
