Kathie Lee Gifford has long been known for being one of the only openly devout Christians in Hollywood. That’s why it’s come as a surprise that Gifford is saying that she “can’t stand religion.”
Especially because at the same time, she loves Jesus!
Gifford ‘Can’t Stand Religion’ But Loves Jesus
“I can’t stand religion,” Gifford, 71, admitted to Fox News. “Religion puts people in chains. And Jesus comes to set us free.
“What do you want? You want to go someplace and sit in the same pew week after week after week and hear the same stuff that doesn’t change your life at all,” she continued. “Or do you want to walk with a living creator of all things who loves you and has a plan for your life and only, only, only longs for you to have fellowship with Him? That’s the only thing I’m interested in.”
Certainly, devout churchgoers will disagree.
That being said, Gifford has leaned on her faith many times throughout her life.
“I could have never made it” without her faith, Gifford explained.

Gifford Would ‘Be In An Insane Asylum Without Jesus’
“I’d be in an insane asylum without Jesus,” she stated. “I’ve been through a lot of crappy stuff in my life. I’ve been blessed beyond belief as well. But I’ve had a lot of things that ended up being very public too, that would have put me away for a long time and done a lot of damage to my family, to my everything.”
“I was already holding Jesus’ his hand,” Gifford added. “When you go through the kinds of things that I went through in the last, you know, 20 years, you just cling. You just cling tighter. You’re already there. You already have them. And I know people always talk about, you know, people coming to God in a foxhole. Fine. Whenever you come to God, it’s a good thing. The better thing is to come to know him early in your life and then cling to him for their whole life.”
Gifford has been studying the Bible since she was a child. She even missed her own high school prom and graduation to travel to Israel for a conference on biblical prophecy.
“I’m far more annoying now because I’ve learned so much,” she said with a laugh.

Gifford Gushes Over The Bible
Gifford is now encouraging others to take a closer look at the Bible as well.
“The Bible’s filled with incredible stories of drama and betrayal and, you know, bestiality, whatever you want. The Bible’s got it,” she gushed. “People just don’t read it. They would find out what an incredibly fascinating book it is. And I’ve been reading it my whole life. And not just reading it, but truly studying it.”
Bless Gifford for continuing to use her platform to spread the word of God. If only we had more celebrities like her in the world!
