Last week, we reported that Prince Harry is eager to reconcile with the royal family. Indeed, insiders are alleging that Harry has “regrets” about the things he’s done to the royals in recent years.
Now, royal experts are saying that Harry is taking this a step further by “desperately” trying to separate himself from his wife Meghan Markle amidst his reconciliation efforts. This comes at a difficult time for Meghan, as her own career is coming “crashing” down around her.
Harry ‘Wants To Gave His Cake And Eat It Too’
Royal biographer Tom Bower is skeptical of Harry’s chances of reconciling with his family, given everything he’s done to them over the past five years. After stepping down as senior royals back in January of 2020, Harry and Meghan moved across the world to Southern California. This is where Meghan was born and raised.
In the years since then, Harry and Meghan have bashed the royal family seemingly every chance they’ve gotten in books, interviews, and docuseries. After Harry’s rare four-day visit to the United Kingdom last week, Bower poured cold water on the 41 year-old’s royal reconciliation hopes.
“It’s the Harry who wants to have his cake and eat it too. Live in California, pop over here just to remind people how important he is, and at the same time undermine the royal family,” Bower told GB News. “And really, he and Meghan together have done more in the last four or five years to damage the monarchy than anyone in hundreds of years.”
“I fear this trip has done huge damage to the royal family, because in the end he’ll get his vengeance, and that is very bad indeed,” he continued.
Harry ‘Desperately’ Distancing Himself From Meghan
Bower went on to claim that Harry has tried to distance himself from Meghan as of late.
“He is spare to Meghan, or was, in her attempt to become the great television homemaker. But her series, her career, is crashing,” Bower explained. “So very cleverly, Harry has separated himself from Meghan, as she did from him but she still needs him. And so you’ve got this couple in Montecito, desperately looking for a new purpose in life.”
“Is Harry Meghan’s spare, or are Meghan and Harry the spare to the Royal Family?” the royal expert concluded. “The fact is, they are both looking for a purpose, and all they can do is damage the monarchy through their activities.”

Meghan’s Career Comes ‘Crashing’ Down
This comes one month after Meghan released season two of her Netflix lifestyle and cooking series With Love, Meghan. Unfortunately for her, the show flopped, as it failed to even make the streaming giant’s weekly ratings.
Netflix has since downgraded Meghan and Harry’s $100 million contract to a far more modest “first look” deal. The streaming service made this decision after various other flops from Meghan and Harry, including their previous docuseries Polo. This “downgrade” is the same one that Netflix gave to Barack and Michelle Obama, who have also struggled to create successful content in entertainment despite repeated efforts.
“In practice, it is a downgrade from the 2020 overall deal that birthed Harry & Meghan, Polo and With Love, Meghan, among other projects,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.
“The overall-to-first-look extension mirrors the move Netflix made recently with the Obamas — as well as others — for their Higher Ground banner,” the publication continued. “In both cases, the exclusivity carried by their respective, splashy original deals has been removed.”
Needless to say, this came as bad news for Harry and Meghan. Indeed, much to their dismay, it appears that Hollywood has had enough of them both.
“Netflix isn’t giving them blank checks anymore,” said an insider. “They’re picking and choosing, and that pressure is showing on Harry and Meghan.”
Meghan Likely In Panic Mode
Before marrying Harry in 2018, Meghan spent years trying and failing to make it as an actress. While she was eventually cast on the cable series Suits, she was never a household name until her engagement to Harry was announced.
With Harry allegedly trying to distance himself from her, Meghan is likely in panic mode as she faces the prospect of having to return to her old life of relative anonymity and complete irrelevance.
If Harry really does want to reconcile with his family, it appears that separating himself from Meghan may be the way to go. After all, Harry’s marriage with Meghan is seemingly when all of the problems between him and his family began. That’s why the royals are likely even more wary of Meghan than they are of Harry these days.
It will certainly be interesting to see if Harry and Meghan’s marriage will survive all of this. Only time will tell if Harry ever ends up back in the royal fold!
