Over the past few months, various liberal Hollywood stars have fled America just to escape the current presidential administration. Now, the former The Princess Bride and Forrest Gump star Robin Wright has joined their ranks, as she’s announced that she’s left the United States and moved to England.
On her way out the door, Wright was quick to launch a profanity-laced attack on America. Indeed, it’s clear that Wright has no intention of coming back to the states anytime soon.
Wright Slams America After Fleeing The Country
Wright, 59, has confirmed that she’s left America to move to England with her British-born Australian boyfriend, Henry Smith. In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the Texas-born Wright claimed to have no regrets about making this international move.
“America is a [expletive] show,” Wright claimed.
“I love being in this country,” she later added of England. “There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind. They’re living. They’re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That’s most of America. Everything’s rush, competition and speed.”
Wright went on to explain that the breaking point for her came when she woke up one morning in Los Angeles to find that her neighbors were doing a major home renovation.
‘Everyone’s building a huge house and I’m just done with all that — I love the quiet,” she said. “And I’ve met my person. Finally.”
Wright Finds Love In England
Wright then revealed how she met Smith, who is a 52 year-old architect. It seems that they met last year at a Chilterns pub when Wright was visiting England with her stepsister Lucinda Carmichael.
“Henry was standing at the bar, 6ft2in, and he put his pint down, came over to me and grabbed my shoulders,” Wright recalled. “He goes, ‘Who the [expletive] are you?’ And I said, ‘Who the [expletive] are you?’ And that was it.”
“He is a sweetheart and just a good, decent adult,” she gushed. “He’s a man.”
Wright and Smith are now preparing to move in together in a rented home on the English seaside. They will be joined by their two Labradors, Rusty and Rocky.
According to Wright, life in England with her new love has been “liberating.”
“It’s liberating to be done,” she explained. “Be done with searching, looking and getting 60 percent of what you wanted.”
“That’s exactly what I wanted,” Wright continued. “I’m turning 60 and I’m, like, ‘Is this it?’ I love being alone and I’ve done that many times. But I’m, like…I want to grow old with somebody, and travel and see the world.”
Marriage Is Off The Table For Wright
Despite being madly in love with Smith, Wright has no intention of marrying him. She’s previously been married and divorced three times, with her highest profile marriage being to the Oscar-winning star Sean Penn.
When asked if she’d even consider getting married again, Wright was quick to reply, “No. God no. Why? That’s just unnecessary.”
Wright is far from the only celebrity to flee America in the wake of Donald Trump’s presidential victory. Indeed, stars like Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell have done the same thing, with the former settling in England and the latter moving to Ireland.
In the end, it’s nothing short of ridiculous to flee a great country like the U.S. just because you don’t like the current occupant of the White House. Enjoy your new life in England, Robin Wright, because you won’t be missed in America one bit!
