Earlier this week, we reported that Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi had allegedly backtracked on fleeing America for England and were plotting a return to the U.S. This came months after they fled the country due to the second presidential victory of Donald Trump.
Now, it’s been revealed that their nearly $30 million farmhouse in the Cotswolds in England has been surrounded by flooding yet again. Indeed, perhaps this has something to do with why the two women are reportedly desperate to come crawling back to sunny California.
DeGeneres’ Flooding Nightmare In England
DeGeneres, 67, and de Rossi, 52, bought the seven-bedroom Kitesbridge Farm estate for nearly $19 million in June of 2024. Though they initially only planned to live their part-time, they made it their permanent residence in November of 2024 after Trump defeated Kamala Harris in the presidential election.
Unfortunately for DeGeneres and de Rossi, however, this backfired on them just a few weeks later when the entire property became surrounded by floodwater after Storm Bert hit the United Kingdom. This had to have come as a massive shock to DeGeneres and de Rossi. Indeed, they are used to near-perfect sunny weather in their previous home in the ritzy area of Montecito, California.
DeGeneres and de Rossi quickly put the 43-acre estate and property on the market in July, trying to sell it for 50 percent more at nearly $30 million dollars. The property has had no takers in the months since, and it remains on the market at this time.
Now, it’s being reported by Daily Mail that the property has been surrounded by flooding once again. This comes after a tributary of the River Thames called the River Windrush burst its banks. This occurred when the U.K. was recently hit by Storm Claudia.
Though DeGeneres and de Rossi no longer live in the home, they still own it. The couple undoubtedly will not be happy about this second round of flooding. Indeed, this won’t exactly help their chances of selling the property for 50 percent more than they bought it for.
After seeing yet another debacle, who in their right mind would pay that much money for a property like this? If DeGeneres and de Rossi truly want to sell it, they might need to swallow their pride and take a loss on this one.
DeGeneres Desperate To Return To America
Meanwhile, insiders are claiming that DeGeneres and de Rossi have had enough of England after just one year. The couple have reportedly been telling friends that they’re eager to return to Southern California because they “miss their friends.” They are also dreading the idea of going through another dreary British winter.
“Ellen was adamant that she and Portia were going to stay in the UK while Trump was in the White House, but evidently she’s changed her mind somewhat,” an insider told The Mail over the weekend.
“She’s been telling friends they are coming home soon because they miss them and can’t take the winters over there, and Portia wants to act again,” the source continued. “They will be here for the holidays and longer by the sound of it.”
“Ellen was very clear that they’re coming back to California sooner rather than later,” the insider concluded. “They miss the warm weather and their friends.”
DeGeneres’ Previous Comments
This is a complete 180 from what DeGeneres was saying as recently by July. When asked by a reporter that month if she’d moved to the U.K. because of Trump, Degeneres immediately replied “Yes.”
“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in,'” DeGeneres said. “And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.'”
Not stopping there, DeGeneres then claimed that they were loving their new life in rural England.
“It’s absolutely beautiful,” she alleged. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture – everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life.
“It’s clean,” DeGeneres added. “Everything here is just better – the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.”
Oh, how times have changed, right Ellen?
The latest round of flooding has likely cemented DeGeneres and de Rossi’s desperation to return to the easy life that they had in America. This should serve as a warning to all liberal elite celebrities who love to complain about this country. In the end, life is just better in America!
