When looking at the Hollywood star Elizabeth Hurley of Austin Powers fame, one would never think that she’s going to be turning 59 later this year, but that’s actually the case. Hurley’s History
IMDB reports that Hurley was born on June 10, 1965 in Basingstoke, Hampshire, to Angela Mary (Titt), a teacher, and Roy Leonard Hurley, an army major. Hurley fell in love with dance at an early age, and she was so determined to pursue a career as a dancer that she went away to a ballet boarding school at the age of 12, but she soon returned home and quickly turned her attention to acting.
Many of Hurley’s fans would be shocked to learn that during her teenage years, she went through a punk phase.
“When I was a teenager, I had pink hair, a nose ring and ripped up clothes,” Hurley previously told The Washington Post. “I wasn’t rebelling against anything though, it was just fashion. Plus, I really loved the music and still often have the Clash blasting.”
When it came time to attend college, Hurley was awarded a scholarship to the London Studio Centre. As she fell in love with acting, Hurley had to abandon her punk rock look in favor of one that was more palatable for casting.
Hurley’s Film Career
Hurley made her screen debut in the 1987 movie Aria, and more roles in television and European films quickly followed. In 1988, Hurley met the then-relatively unknown actor Hugh Grant while making the 1988 film Rowing with the Wind, and the two soon began to date.
When Grant became an international star after appearing in the 1994 hit Four Weddings And A Funeral, Hurley was boosted to fame as well as the world fell in love with them as a couple. Hurley stood by Grant after he was caught with a sex worker in 1995, but the two would later have an “amicable” split in 2000.
Hurley’s best known movie is arguably the 1997 spy spoof Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, which earned her the ShoWest Supporting Actress of the Year award.

Hurley’s Passion For Fashion
With her punk days long behind her, Hurley has been the spokeswoman for Estée Lauder since 1995.
“I was far from an ingénue, having had my first modeling job at 29,” she later recalled, according to Hello Magazine.
Hurley is still passionate about fashion to this day.
“I’ve been spoilt rotten over the years; Versace, Valentino, Dior and many other have made me the most divine couture dresses,” she said. “Faux pas-wise, I’m afraid there’s plenty to choose from. My crimes and misdemeanors include inadvertently flashing underwear and wearing a see-through sari, both of which caused outrage around the world.”
In her personal life, Hurley is mother to a 21 year-old son Damian Hurley, who has followed her footsteps by becoming an actor and model. Hurley recently appeared in her son’s directorial debut Strictly Confidential, which is set to be released this year.

Hurley’s Aging Secrets
When it comes to her secrets to aging gracefully, Hurley told Women’s Health Magazine in 2018 that she moisturizes ten times a day.
“The one thing I swear by is moisturizer—and lots of it,” she said. “I’ll moisturize my face about six times a day and my neck about 10 times a day. Lightly dab it over your face, and it instantly makes you glow.”
Hurley also does not keep processed food in her home.
“I like simple, natural, easy food. I don’t really like food with a lot of chemicals or additives,” she told The Cut. “When I’m at home in the country, I always try and eat food that’s grown locally. That goes for meats and vegetables.”
“I’ve learned how to rest when I need to rest,” she added. “I understand that I need to do a bit of exercise. I understand about eating healthily. I’ve understood about not smoking. I’ve understood about limiting alcohol intake.”
Hurley additionally credits a positive attitude with her youthful appearance.
“You have to try to stay positive,” she previously told Today. “We all get terrible knocks in life, all of us … Sometimes I think to glow, you have to let go of a lot of stuff and move on. Be as nice as you can to everyone.”
