Scott Swift, the 71 year-old father of the pop star Taylor Swift, has been accused of assaulting a paparazzi photographer in Australia.

Taylor’s Father Accused Of Assault

Daily Mail reported that Scott has been accused of punching the photographer Ben McDonald, 51, in the face at a ferry wharf in the suburb of Neutral Bay just after 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

After finishing the Australian leg of her Eras tour, the 34 year-old Taylor and her father, who is known as Papa Swift to her fans, travelled from Homebush on a luxury superyacht called Quantum. Scott was caught on video footage moments before the alleged assault walking up the wharf while giving photographers the middle finger.

Police told People Magazine that they are investigating an “alleged assault after a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf” at around 2:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

“The younger man reported the incident and inquiries are now underway by officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command. The man did not require medical treatment,” they added.

Taylor Fires Back – Photographer Doubles Down

A spokeswoman for Taylor has since fired back by claiming that the photographers were “aggressive.”

“Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water,” the spokeswoman said.

McDonald, who is the chief executive of Matrix Media Group, has hit back at this statement by describing it as “utter rubbish” and claiming that Taylor was the only woman at the scene. He also is alleging that photographers were not being aggressive at all.

“This is the sort of bulls**t I might expect,” McDonald said. “Which female was that? The only one there was Taylor.”

McDonald accused Scott of “charging” at him after getting off the yacht with Taylor.

“In 23 years of taking pictures, I have never seen anything like it,” he said. “She got off the boat, she walked towards security guards who were shoving umbrellas in our faces.”

Hours after the alleged assault, Taylor and her entourage were seen leaving The Crown Hotel at Barangaroo in black SUVs just before 11am on Tuesday. She then left the country on her private jet, with her next show scheduled to take place in Singapore on Saturday.

Scott’s Alleged Republican History

Scott has been a fixture on Taylor’s sold-out Eras tour and has become beloved by her fans. During her show in Sydney last weekend, he was praised for handing out sandwiches to fans, telling them to “help themselves.”

Daily Mail previously reported that Scott deleted his personal Facebook account back in 2019 after fans claimed that they had found right-wing memes on it. The posts allegedly included right-leaning memes about immigration and one refusing to acknowledge Elizabeth Warren as a Senator, with others expressing support for the Blue Lives Matter movement.

One of Scott’s posts allegedly referred to a story titled, “This student was ashamed of her Republican father, until he said this.”

Another 2016 post that was allegedly from Scott read, “So sad to hear of the passing of Nancy Reagan. Thought the world of those two wonderful people. Golden Years.”

These posts are in stock contrast to the political views of Taylor, who has become radically liberal over the past few years.

At the time of this writing, Scott has yet to be charged for the alleged assault in Australia.
